The not so fun side of being a breeder.... Many hide this side, but I have decided to share it with you.
As responsible breeders dogs free from health issues are paramount for us. We carefully select our moms and dads from health tested lines and several of our parents are from several generations of Monkey Biz Bostons. This is why we are confident offering a LIFETIME guarantee against congenital defects.
But sometimes, despite all the research something not quite right will pop up. Sometimes it's just congenital and was just an unfortunate in-utero growth issue, and other times it's something common in a breed, but never before seen in your line.
Meet Ronan. At first look Ronan looks perfect. He acts perfect, he is thriving. Unfortunately though, he is not. I knew the moment he was born there was an issue and it was one I had not seen in 30 years of breeding. This goes to show that we never stop learning. After some quick research I learned what it was and then had to make a decision. This is where the fork in the road occurs with breeders. To deal with this issue or send him over the rainbow bridge.
This puppy will need surgery to live his best life. This is not an easy peasy surgery either. This is a specialty hospital or UC Davis type of surgery. At birth (because he was so tiny) it was not even clear how invasive this surgery would be. If he had the surgery the odds were extremely good that he would live a long happy and joyful life. But it's expensive. Very expensive. And it would require a lot of vet visits and consultations and then recovery time.
This of course is an easy decision for me. Of course he will be given every single opportunity to live his best life. And after surgery he will be available to an exceptional family.

Hypospadias: Hypospadias is a congenital developmental anomaly of the external boy parts in animals in which the external urethral or***ce is on the ventral surface of the p**is rather than at the tip. To a variable extent in individual cases, there is failure of fusion of the urogenital folds and incomplete development of the pe**le urethra.

If your home will be empty for most of the day, please consider that it may not be the best time to get a puppy.

You can leave a puppy alone for small amounts of time as they grow and mature, but it takes patience and training for them to learn how and be comfortable.
