Pet Diabetes Awareness 🐾🩺

Did you know? November is Pet Diabetes Awareness Month! Here are some important facts to keep your furry friends healthy:

🔹 Diabetes in pets is more common than you think, affecting 1 in every 300 dogs and 1 in every 230 cats.
🔹 Symptoms to watch for: increased thirst, frequent urination, weight loss despite a good appetite, and lethargy.
🔹 Early detection is key! With proper management, including insulin therapy, a healthy diet, and regular vet visits, diabetic pets can lead happy lives.
🔹 Pets are more likely to develop diabetes if they’re overweight, older, or have a genetic predisposition.

If you notice any of these signs, schedule a check-up with your vet right away!

🏋‍♀ Meet one of our lovely Veterinary Assistants, Marianna! Marianna has been a dedicated team member of HMAH for over 3 years now. She has a very strong passion for animals, and has taken the opportunity to learn more about exotics! Mari graduated from Georgia state with a Bachelor’s in Psychology in 2021, and has since returned to school for Sonography. In her free time, Mari enjoys lifting heavy weights at the gym, and spoiling her two sweet pups, Jasper and Diego. 🐾🐾

Dr. Jay Fulmer, Dr. Amy Flowers, and Dr. Vanesa Farmer are exceptional small animal veterinarians that provide the best possible care to your pets. You will love our warm and friendly environment, as well as our compassionate and friendly staff. We specialize in small animal medicine and surgery in the Buford, Dacula and surrounding areas and provide the following services: routine and emergency exams, wellness exams, vaccinations, digital diagnostic imaging, in-house lab work, cold therapy laser, laser surgery, dentistry, behavior consults, grooming, and both long-term and day boarding.
