And with that, all of our Bellaxter babies have been reserved for pickup or already adopted and with their forever families!

This process has been QUITE the ride! And doubtful an experience we will venture into again. It was HARD, y’all! Rewarding. Sweet. Joyful. Absolutely! But also tiring, a big financial investment & definitely marked with several learning curves!

Thank you everyone for following along, bringing one of our beloved babies home, or inquiring about them along the way! ❤️🐾❤️

Draco has been adopted - congratulations Cline family (us!!)!

We knew we wanted to keep one for ourselves, but we couldn’t decide, so we just resolved that whoever was last adopted would be ours!

Turns out, that’s sweet Draco! We could not be happier!

While at the vet, Chaz was the cutest! I was tapping my toe and he was following it with his head. It’s my FAVORITE when animals do the head tilt!! SOOO CUTE!!!

Pups got their first set of vaccines on 11/22/22. It was raining cats and dogs (ha!) and this was the puppies first outing…quite an exciting day to say the least!

They all took their shots like champs! The liquid Benadryl beforehand was the only “hiccup”, literally. Baby Spice and Fiona wolfed (man. I’m on a roll with the puns today!) it down and then experienced hiccups for the first time! It was so cute!

Our family Veterinarian & team (who’s been with us since before Bellatrix’ pregnancy) checked all 8 of these adorable babies and cleared them for congenital/health defects! 🙌🏽🙌🏽 They were also tested for worms and testing came back negative, so no deworming was needed this visit. ❤️

All are on good trajectories for weight and temps were in the normal range. PHEW! This made my hard-working, fur-grandma heart HAPPY!

Spent some time getting “Doggy Bags” ready for the day we send these babies to their new homes! ❤️🐾❤️

Some gifts, some essentials, some medical records, just for you to have some of what you need to start your life with your new baby beagle.

I really enjoyed putting these together and am hopeful for the puppies’ new families to love them as much as we have!

T-10 days until they can be yours…❤️🐶

end of week 5
pupdate & pics

puppies are getting so good at eating their puppy mush! they're also learning to drink water to stay hydrated. they're growing well and showing no signs of worms or other puppy ailments! yay for healthy babies! 🙌🙌🙌

this week began the decrease in the need for weighing/monitoring temps daily down to weekly. which has been nice since increasing their puppy mush to 3x's/day has kept me very busy! lots of pooping, which means lots of cleaning and lots of laundry. and lots of taking them to potty outside about 5 times a day.

well, enough talk, onto the pictures! which i apologize, there's quite a lack of pics from this week.

It’s time for “Beagles: Did you know?”

Common Beagle health issues include ear infections, obesity, allergies, cherry eye, epilepsy, and hypothyroidism
 Bellatrix & Baxter have none of these issues, with the exception of occasional seasonal allergies.

Floppy-eared dogs are notorious for having an ease towards ear infections. A good way to avoid ear infections, that has worked well for our beagles, is to be sure to wipe the ears out gently each time they get a bath. You can use a washcloth and some warm water, there are also dog-ear wash products you can use if desired, but the washcloth/water method has done the job well for us.

Obesity hasn’t been an issue we’ve dealt with either, because our dogs are pretty active and we keep them on Science Diet puppy food. While it is a little pricey, it helps stave off numerous other health issues, so to us, it’s worth the price.
