Continuing our Bat Appreciation Month celebration, let’s shine a light on another incredible species you can find in our bat habitat: the Lesser Long-nosed bat! 🦇✨These tiny but mighty bats are native to the desert scrub habitats of Southern California, Arizona, New Mexico, and all the way down to Central America. As part of the leaf-nosed family, their unique noses help them detect the scent of blooming cacti flowers, making them crucial night pollinators. 🌵🌙 Lesser Long-nosed bats are the primary pollinators of night-blooming saguaro and organ pipe cacti. With tongues as long as their bodies, they sip nectar while collecting pollen to carry to the next cactus. Their role in the ecosystem is vital, ensuring these beautiful plants continue to thrive!Come visit the Lesser Long-nosed bats in the Rainforest Pyramid!
