Garden City Veterinary Clinic Garden City Veterinary Clinic is a full service small and exotic animal veterinary clinic in Garden City, Kansas.

The Garden City Veterinary Clinic is a small animal and exotic clinic serving Garden City and the southwest Kansas area. We have been open and practicing in the same location since 1954. Our Doctors, Technicians and staff endeavor to provide the best possible care available and we are always striving to improve our knowledge, care and facility. Since purchasing the clinic Dr. Tuller has been putti

ng a lot of time and effort into updating the decor, medical equipment and patient accommodations. We have new hospitalization cages for our surgery patients. We have added a wet table for dental cleanings and wound treatment patients. We have a Digital X-Ray Machine to give us a more crisp and clear diagnostic image. Our newest surgery monitor has EKG, respiration, blood oxygen, CO2, core body temperature and non-invasive blood pressure monitoring capabilities. We also have a Hot Dog Patient Warmer that we use during surgery to assist in the prevention of hypothermia. We have in-house CBC and blood chemistry testing capabilities. The clinic is also the proud owner of a Cutting Edge Veterinary Laser, MLS Therapy Laser. The therapy laser is a cold laser that helps to increase circulation in the treated area. Increased circulation will assist in decreasing inflammation and pain response. We have used the therapy laser as a component in treating conditions such as arthritis, pain from hip dysplasia, minor intervertebral disk disease, sprains, acute inflammation and wound healing.

World Rabies Day.
In the United States, it's not unusual for one to two people to die annually. Among animals, there were 3,579 reported cases of rabies in the U.S. in 2022.

You can help prevent rabies infections by vaccinating your animals and keeping them away from wildlife that can spread the disease. Rabies is preventable.

September is Happy Cat Month!
Living indoors is safer for cats because they don’t have to contend with things like traffic, temperature extremes or predators. However, compared to the outdoors, an indoor environment can be very monotonous. As cat guardians, it’s essential to provide enrichment to engage their bodies and brains. Here are some ways to do just that:

Provide a variety of cat toys that are safe and stimulating, such as feathery and furry toys that move and feel like small prey or toys filled with catnip (just be aware that catnip can make some cats aggressive or hyperactive).
-Provide a few scratching posts of different designs and materials. Your cat may especially like one with high perches.
-Create perching areas (PDF) near windows so your cat can observe the world and open screened windows to let fresh air in.
-Set out cardboard boxes or paper bags for your cat to explore.
-Place a ping-pong ball in an empty bathtub for your cat to play with.
-For tactile stimulation, lay down a soft, textured mat sprinkled with catnip for your cat to roll on.
-Try a simple puzzle feeder to encourage your cat to work for their food.
When cats’ needs are not met, there is an increase in abnormal behavior, or normal behavior considered undesirable by the caregiver. It is vitally important to meet cats’ needs and allow them to express their natural behaviors, to prevent stress and unfavorable behaviors, and improve feline health and welfare.

Getting your kitty used to the carrier before a stressful cat ride and vaccination will make them much calmer and better able to handle the whole situation.
Cat, meet carrier
Place the carrier in a cat-friendly area and leave it open so your curious kitty can check it out when she’s ready. If they have the carrier available all the time it won't be new and scary.
Quick tip: Add a special, tasty treat, such as a bite of
canned tuna or chicken, to lure your kitty close.
