Carson shelter in Gardena would like to find an exit plan for BINGO--unable to walk, needs medical help!
BINGO is approximately 2 years old, intact male, DSH. I have been at the Carson Animal Care Center since April 4, 2024 came in as a STRAY.
Medical summary:
Bingo is a young DSH that presented unable to stand/walk without support. There are no obvious fractures and neurologic causes are being considered.
Okay for adoption with a trust health waiver on April 8, 2024 if owner does not come forward.

🆘TRAPPER AND RESCUE HELP NEEDED FOR INJURED KITTY IN AZUSA!🆘 Help! A member of the community spotted this kitty with an injured left arm and can’t put pressure on it. Unknown if the kitty is friendly or not, but certainly is scared of anyone who may hurt him or her further😔 The shelter and animal control won’t help 😡so unless we can get a team together this kitty will stay outside on the street struggling and suffering. His precious little white chin and toes are irresistible and he's only a young man of 5yrs old. Where are my long haired kitty lovers at?? The mom is taking very good care of them and they are plump and all are deemed healthy at this time, but they all do have fleas that need to be taken care of. Due to the level of care for this group they need an immediate exit plan to ensure their health and to keep the mom stress free.

There’s a misconception that rabbits are good pets for children and easy to keep 😅

In reality, most rabbits don’t like being picked up, they are prey animals that are scared of loud noises and fast movements. Rabbits also have sensitive spines that can easily be permanently damaged by handling them incorrectly 😳

Rabbits are considered exotic animals by most vets so they have to go to a specialized vet that knows rabbit care and be fixed to stem health issues and undesirable behaviors. This will end up costing most people thousands of dollars 💵 Rabbits also need fresh food and unlimited hay daily. They should not live their lives in a cage or a hutch outdoors. The recommended enclosure size for a single rabbit is 6ft by 4ft. Rabbits need to run and play 🤍

Rabbits are amazing animals but they need a considerable amount of care and are certainly not a cheap, starter pet. 🐰

Please think twice before buying a rabbit and if you do decide they are a good fit for your lifestyle contact your local rabbit rescues to adopt one of the many rabbits that have been discarded after Easter. Our Cookie and Cocoa were only 3 months old when they were abandoned after Easter, and their story is all too common!

🆘🧡💔Help! Angel foster needed to care for precious friendly kitty rescued from the street! We will provide the medication and a crate if you don’t have a small room for him. We can’t leave him out on the street like this😿😭He will need a Rescue or Adopter but we need to get him off the street and treated immediately! If you can’t, foster can you donate toward his care? Fam, we are in need of help!! On October 22, 2022, These beautiful cats came into the Baldwin Park Shelter on a legal matter. They have since been released and available for adoption. We believe they are URGENT and at RISK. Well all animals that enter the shelter system are at risk but With Kitty season upon us… they are definitely going to get overlooked. They need rescues and/or compassionate adopters that will give them time to decompress because they really do need it. They have been in kennels all this time. Just a reminder to our audience--People doing the hard work of rescuing cats are often exhausted, grieving, overwhelmed low on funds, low on time, and being asked to do more every day. Please be patient and kind when you comment or message shelter/rescue personnel, and offer tangible forms of assistance when/if you can!

I've been doing cat rescue for over 10 years. Rescue work is HARD and I don't say that lightly. Despite the social media posts and reels of happy adoptions and cute kittens, rescue behind the scenes is a very different story. This is just a glimpse of things YOU will probably never see or experience:

- You will never experience the moment a kitten is gasping for their last breaths while you’re scrambling to pull Euthasol to help end their suffering. You don't have time to cry, get frantic, or lose your sh*t.

- You will never know what it's like to be at the emergency vet all night only to have your kitten die, wake up 3 hours later and be forced to function because there are many other lives counting on you. There's no time to cry or grieve properly.

- You will never have to make difficult decisions whether to spend thousands of dollars on one cat for a complicated surgery or to opt for euthanasia. Question “do I try to socialize these semi feral kittens to give them a chance at an adoptable indoor life or save the space for future 5-10 friendlies? Or do I take in this medical kitten who will be euthanized at the shelter?” You have to make these hard decisions every day.

- You will never have to wake up every 2 hours to bottle feed newborn kittens because someone decided to “rescue” them and brought them to you while mama cat was out trying to get food. Basically kidnapping them…But hey, they feel good because they “rescued them” and left you to do all the hard work, pay their medical bills, and spend every weekend at adoption events making sure they go to good homes.

- You will never see the cruel side of humanity where you witness animal abuse, kittens being thrown out of cars, cats taped up in boxes and dumped in the garbage, find half dead kittens in a shoe box left on the conveyor belt at your adoption pet store….and you are still expected to be a kind, polite, and a happy, normal human being.

- You will probably never have to give up your high paying corporate job because working a normal 8+ hour day and then coming home to do rescue “work” for another 8-10 hours is just not sustainable or healthy for anybody.

- You will never know what it's like to give up every weekend to “work” adoption fairs, miss family events, miss out on friendships and relationships, or have a social life. You'll never know what it feels like to sacrifice so much, give SO much, and feel SO underappreciated.

But I know all these things because this is what it's like to run a rescue.

People will say “why don't you have more cats for adoption?” or give an attitude because they weren't the selected adopter for the kitten of their choosing. People demand that I help them because “you're a rescue” and that I “should come to their house and remove these cats” or ask “why can't you help me with these kittens?” because I'm tired. I have limits. I am one person. That's what the Tri city shelter is for - but they will turn you away because even with staff and resources, they can't do it all.

If you are adopting from a rescue, if you're asking for rescue help, just read some of these things and please be kind. We are really doing our best. If you know a person in rescue, buy them a coffee, a snack, a drink- they most likely haven't eaten anything all day. Appreciate them in a way that will make their day a little bit easier. Everyday is a difficult day for us in rescue but kindness goes a long way. Like I said…rescue work is hard. Most people don't know or understand - but now you know… even if it's just a glimpse.

Sweet Nora Neko (stray cat in Japanese) is 9 months old and a loving and affectionate baby girl. She prefers to be the only cat but is OK with dogs. She’s been with her foster for almost 4 months, but she is still anxious and stressed with their other kitties. However she loves her humans, is good with kids and loves neck scratches and cuddles.
