October Publications

October Publications was created in 2004 in the aftermath of a trip to Ireland. We took our moms along, and had a wonderful time. Ireland, if you’ve ever been, is a lovely country to photograph. We’ve all seen the thatched roof huts, the breathtaking scenery – and all to often the magnificent doors and windows of Ireland. Fine enough imagery — but far too overdone in my view. Two weeks after our first trip over – I was back to the sod with a pal named Mark Curtis. I rented a Toyota and made a complete tour of the Emerald Isle in 7 days – ducking into as many pubs from sunrise and beyond sunset so as to include Waterford, Cork, Down to Dungarvan, The Ring of Derry, up again to Galway, Donegal, Derry and a few small towns and villages in between. And yes, I was thrown out of a nice little hotel in Donegal where a wedding was in process. A nasty misunderstanding had me pegged as a “Pervert!”. Mark and I made a mad dash for the safety of the street, the Toyota, and a hasty retreat up to Northern Ireland where I hoped to find better examples of the famed Irish sense of humor amongst the Brits. The idea of October Publications was also a venue to exhibit and merchandise other imagery that I’d created and captured over my career in design and photography. We enjoy travel and hope that, not too far in the future, my wife can abandon her career in real estate and accompany me on more world-wide adventures. Lastly, October is – as you might have guessed – our incomparable Golden Retriever
