Koda and Santa Paws are available for adoption!
Update: Iris has been moved into our cat boarding room and her personality is THRIVING! She is eating much better too! We also have discovered what a beautiful singing voice she has! Will you make Iris part of your family today?
Say hello to Iris! Iris is a 4 year old little shy gal and is ready to find her new furvever home with you today! Iris was abandoned after an eviction and has been confused by all of these sudden life changes π She has been a little picky eating here (with an audience) she prefers to eat at night when no one is around. She is quite the chonk though so we know she eats when she's hungry π We definitely believe that in the right home, she will come out of her shell and find happiness again π± If interested in adding her to your family, feel free to give us a call at (913)856-6255 and we can set up a meet and greet! We are located at 945 E. Santa Fe St. here in Gardner πΎ
Say hello to Koda!
Koda is a 2 year old neutered male lab mix and would love to become part of your family today! Koda loves to meet people and kids! He can be quite the chatterbox when exciting things are happening and sometimes can never seem to run out of things to talk about! He enjoys playing tag and hide-and-seek! He is also our top toy tester including testing for squeekability, shredability, and chewability! Koda takes this position at our shelter very seriously!
Koda recently was involved in an incident with another dog. Koda was in a meet and greet with a potential adopter and everything was going super well to the point he was about to be adopted... Another dog was brought outside to show the potential adopters how Koda behaves around/with other dogs, and Koda lashed out at the other dog. This resulted in minor injuries to the other dog. The potential adopters didn't have any other dogs in the home, but did have cats, and were weary about the behavior Koda had just expressed and how he would be around their cats.
There were a lot of contributing factors to this incident which include, but are not limited to the following;
-Koda was already overstimulated being involved in an exciting meet and greet in an are he's not in very often and with new people, new smells, etc.
-Koda was off-leash and the other dog was too.
-The other dog was entering Koda's space which could have felt invasive to Koda.
-This was Koda's first time meeting this dog.
-The dog was another male dog, and a submissive one at that.
-Koda had not been properly socialized in roughly a month since his last shelter pal was adopted.
-There were other dogs going in/out from outside a few yards over which also was riling Koda up with all of the comotion and extra stimuli.
-Koda saw the dog through a barrier, and Koda has developed some barrier reactivity like many other dogs have/do that are in shelter/kennel environments.
-Etc.
We do NOT blame Koda for this incident occur
Say hello to Santa Paws! π
Santa Paws is a roughly 1 year old Pocket Pittie and would love to become a part of your family today! Santa Paws is a little guy with a BIG heart just full of love! Santa Paws loves to sing the songs of his people and he proudly leads the debate club in our shelter! Santa Paws has scars on his neck, chest, and face. Some of which appear to be from being tied to a tether for a good part of his young life so far. You wouldn't know he's ever been poorly treated though because he has the spirit of a puppy! Santa Paws is such a little gentleman and never even makes a mess in his room (unless his tummy is upset). He hasn't been properly socialized with other dogs at this time since he is currently recovering from his neuter, but he has been super friendly with other dogs of different sizes fence to fence! He's also very quiet and content in his room. π Even if his shelter pals are chatting up a storm! He also hasn't been introduced to any cats, but he does stop in to smell them through their kennel doors and say hello every time he goes in/out for a potty break β€οΈ He hasn't had a negative interaction with the cats at all. With proper introduction, we believe he would adjust just fine! If you are interested meeting this sweet little guy, feel free to give us a call at (913)856-6255 to set up a meet and greet!
Say hello to Pistachio! πΎπ±π
Pistachio is a 2 month old male domestic shorthair and is ready to become part of your family today! Pistachio is QUITE the character and SUCH a ladies man! π» We are all in love with him! He may be tiny, but he is MIGHTY! He loves to wrestle and adventure! He loves to snuggle in your shirt as well ππ₯° He is definitely a social butterfly, so a home with another furry friend would be STRONGLY recommended and very beneficial to this little guy and his proper development π Our adoption fee for cats is $100. We do also offer a BOGO 1/2 off deal as well for our bonded pairs or if you just can't decide between two of our wonderful furry friends and you fall in love with more than one! Each pet is spayed/neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, and will be microchipped upon adoption. If interested in this furbaby feel free to give us a call at (913)856-6255 to schedule a meet and greet! π Would you like to bring him home with you today? πΊ
