Greg and I have decided it’s time to retire (Afterall, I am 72 years old!). Most of our horses have been sold. The ranch is very different now days. We went from 77 Friesians and our biggest breeding year was 22 foals. Lots of ETs. We’ll still have a few horses at the ranch. This includes 23-year-old Andries 415 Sport, his 23-year-old girlfriend (a model mare who we’ve always used to tease him when collecting), another model mare of 21, a 20-year-old quarter horse (my first horse and a grandson of Doc Bar) and our two driving horses. Oh yes, I’ve recently bought a 2 year old mare for cow work 😉 We greatly appreciate all of the friends we’ve made through the years. So many dedicated people of high integrity, willing to share their knowledge. We’ve been fortunate to have had great customers that do a great job caring for their horses.
We have a four-year-old Doaitsen stallion for sale, bred from Doaitsen’s frozen semen (on our website, new videos coming soon). We’re taking a stud c**t and one year old stallion to our keuring, then will sell them.
It’s great to see so many people, long time members and new members, work hard to do the best for the Friesian breed and for the organization. I wish everyone continued (or new) success, and lots of fun! I’ll still be lurking on Facebook to keep up on everyone.
We will definitely not be bored. I’ll be earning my bacholor’s degree in psychology in a month, with a master’s in another year. We have gotten much more into carriage driving and both came home with ribbons at our first show this year. We play golf 1-2 times a week, tennis, and have a huge vegetable garden. It’s now canning time which keeps us busy (107 tomato plants alone). Going camping next week. Just got back from an Alaskan fishing trip which was amazing. We sent home over 400 lbs. of fish, mostly halibut, some lingcod, rock fish, and salmon. That was in 5.5 days!
Everyone, take care, surround yourself with great people.
