Adoption Update: “When the perfect family came along for Macy, they asked if Macy was ok with cats. I had no idea. What I did know was that Macy did not have much of a prey drive. She was not interested in chasing the numerous squirrels or rabbits in our yard, but she did enjoy watching them. So, with that, I thought we might have a chance. I took Macy over to meet the family and their cat, Katie. After a while of checking each other out through the window, we slowly introduced Macy and Katie inside. Macy was intrigued, and very interested, wagging her tail the whole time. After a while of the two of them staring at each other with much interest, and a little distance between them, the family decided to give it a shot. I am so thankful for their patience and willingness to give it some time. Within a week, they could be in the same room together. And with a few more weeks, this is Katie and Macy now. My heart is so happy for Macy! And I’m so thankful for adopters like this wonderful family who understand the importance of giving it some time.”

Adopt Rupert! Almost 3 yrs old, this gorgeous, happy boy is small for the Great Pyrenees breed and weighs around 70 pounds.

Rupert is charming and popular. He loves people and getting lots of loving attention. He adorably comes right up to you and puts his head or chin on your lap to get affection.

Rue still has the playful energy of a young Pyrenees. He loves playing with other canines, and he gets along great with the other large dogs in his foster home. He would do great in a home with other dogs that will play with him and keep him company.

He would do best in a home with a backyard where he can play when he’s not indoors cuddling with you. If he is an only dog, he needs lots of human time and needs to join lots of family adventures.

Rupert is fully house trained. He is leash trained and loves going on walks. He is crate trained, although isn’t a huge fan of going into one unless there is food in there. He loves chewing on Nylabones.

He knows sit and come, especially when treats are a possibility. He does great in the car, and happily jumps up into the vehicle when it’s time to go for a ride.

At mealtime we feed him separately from the other dogs, because he is a very hungry boy and will try to take their food.

SPIN Pyrs are all in foster homes in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Adoption fees are $300 for dogs under 1 year old, $250 for dogs 1-7 years old, $200 for dogs over 7 years old. Potential adopters are asked to make travel arrangements if they live elsewhere. All SPIN dogs are spayed or neutered, current on vaccinations and on heartworm prevention.

Meet Kayso! She is a confident, happy dog who goes boldly into new situations. Born in December 2023, this beautiful Great Pyrenees mix with the cutest ears will likely weigh a “petite” 70 pounds when fully grown.

Found as a stray, she is now best friends with Chester, another of our foster dogs as seen in her photos. They play together in the back yard for hours. They eat together and cuddle together. If you are interested adopting pair that are a great match, these two are it.

If you are looking for a hiking or running buddy or someone to take long walks with, Kayso is your girl. She also loves to snuggle on the couch in the evenings and is an amazing cuddle buddy. She is a high energy dog but can settle down easily, especially as she matures.

Kayso is a sweet, loving, and happy girl who loves people, other dogs and cats. She gets along with everyone she encounters (humans and animals). She’s in a foster home with three other dogs, three cats and teenage boys and is extremely playful and loving.

She loves sleeping on cool tile floors after playing outside. Kayso is crate trained (although she will protest for a minute or two) and is housebroken.

She rides well in a car. She loves playing with hard toys such as Kongs. She walks well on leash and does even better when she has another dog to follow/mimic. She is learning not to jump and understands “no.”

Kayso must have a large, playful canine companion in her forever home. If you don’t already have a suitable companion for her, adopt one from us!

She is looking for a home with a backyard, a family to care for her, and a playful companion dog. She would be great for families with children.

Kayso is excited to meet her furever family. Could that be you? If you think you’d like to meet Kayso please see the info below.

3) You must have plans in place to socialize your puppy properly.
4) Our puppies are not livestock dogs. They must be family pets that are allowed inside the home.

Foster Update: Little Mickey has been at home with me for 1 week. He was 8 weeks old when I picked him up from the shelter. He is almost potty trained, sleeps all night in his crate, has conquered the puzzle box and the topsy turvey. He is a busy boy. He gets along well with my three Pyrs, and they are playing with him. He is doing so well. The cone will come off tomorrow.

Mickey will soon be available for adoption. Become an approved adopter now and we can set up a meet and greet! Please note, Mickey must go to a home with another dog to teach him manners and play. Get started at spinrescue.org/adoption-application

Adopt Lola! This happy girl was born around October 2020, and she is at her max weight of 85 pounds. Wisdom Panel confirmed that she is 100% Great Pyrenees.

Lola loves people. She is an absolute cuddle bug! She likes to snuggle her nose into your neck and chest. She wants to be as close to you as possible on the couch. She’ll be on your lap if you allow it. Because of her strong Pyr paw, we recommend that she not live with toddlers or younger.

She cutely hops when she’s excited, and she sometimes makes funny noises to get your attention.

Lola loves playing with dogs and with toys. She adores being outside in her backyard. She is very active and would do well with lots of exercise such as walking or running.

She likes every dog she meets, and she needs a doggy playmate in her forever home. An active mid-size to large dog is best.

Lola is great with puppies; she plays gently with them and lets them climb all over her. She is curious and playful with cats.

Before coming into rescue, Lola was hit by car. She suffered a broken leg and pelvis. Due to her subsequent surgeries, she needs to stay lean and stay on glucosamine and fish oil supplements for her joints.

When you see her running or playing, you wouldn’t know she had surgeries in the past. They don’t slow her down whatsoever.

Lola is house trained and leash trained. When outside, Lola loves sounding her loud, deep bark a lot.

When riding in a car, she barks at people, dogs, trucks, and so on. For longer rides, she lays down and is calm.

She does fine with the 5-foot wrought iron fence around the yard at her foster home.

Adopt Cass! He is a resilient and joyful pup who was saved from the euthanasia list at a local animal shelter. Despite a rough start with a case of pneumonia, Cass has bounced back and is ready to find his forever home!

Cass is a 2-3 year old, purebred Great Pyrenees with a gorgeous all-white coat and soulful brown eyes. He currently weighs 55 pounds and is expected to grow into a sturdy 80 pounds.

Cass has a playful, puppy-like energy and is always ready for some fun! He loves playing with toys, often pouncing on them with the enthusiasm of a kitten, and enjoys the company of other dogs. Whether it's playtime or nap time, Cass is happiest when he's surrounded by his furry foster brothers and sisters.

Cass is house-trained and does well in the car, though he’s still working on his leash manners. He’s also getting used to the crate, but he’s not a big fan just yet and would prefer to be out and about with his people.

Cass loves snuggling up in your lap and will happily be your affectionate companion.

This sweet boy would do best in a home with a canine companion and a family that can match his medium energy level. He’s great with kids and other dogs, making him a perfect fit for a young family.

Cass’s playful and active personality makes him better suited for a home with space to run and play rather than an apartment.

While he hasn’t been tested with cats, Cass’s loving nature suggests he’d be open to making new friends.

If you’re looking for a goofy, sweet, and loyal companion who will bring endless joy and love into your life, Cass is the dog for you!

08/09/2024

Adopt Rocky! We believe he is mostly Great Pyrenees mixed with a smaller, leaner breed. Around 2.5yrs old, he is fully grown at 75 pounds.

While shy around new people, once he bonds with you, he loves having your attention. He follows you everywhere, and tries his best to be a lap dog! He does well with kids and allows them to approach him for petting.

Rocky does great meeting new dogs. After they get acquainted, he loves playing with them and being close. He might do best with big dogs, since he sometimes plays a little rough. He eases up if he sees that other dog doesn’t like it.

He is leash trained and loves going for walks. He is great in dog parks, too.

Rocky is fully house trained. He has no need for a crate and he hates them! All he wants to do is escape the confinement, and he could hurt himself in doing so.

Rocky doesn’t bark very much. Rather than bark at things that make him uncomfortable, he prefers to hide or avoid.

He does well in the car. After he happily jumps in, he wants to get right up front with you.

With his low-to-moderate amount of energy, he could probably tolerate an apartment setting as long as he gets long daily walks and/or a buddy to play with throughout the day.

Rocky wants to find his forever person and never leave their side. He might initially have separation anxiety issues, that will improve as he gets comfortable in his new home.

Meet Dixie! This happy girl is 3-4 years old and sports a healthy 90-pound figure. We pulled her from a local shelter after she had been surrendered. Even though she was covered in mats, her sweet temperament shined brightly.

Dixie does well with children. Since she is so big and her Pyr paw can be a little strong when she wants more pets, so she would likely do best in a home with children age 5 and older.

Despite previously living the life of a roaming country dog, Dixie adapted quickly to indoor rules. She is house trained and crate trained. She has learned to sit before meals and before going in and out of the house and crate. She walks well on a leash. She's hesitant to load up in the car, and needs a little b***y boost to load up; then she rides just fine!

Her personality with other dogs is more of a dominant one, so she would be happiest in a home where she could be the top dog -- either with more submissive doggie playmates or as an only dog. She does well with the other big and small dogs in her foster home.

Sweet Dixie would be a great addition to someone's family! Apply to meet her today!

Adopt Zendaya! Around 2.5 yrs old, this big, beautiful, female Great Pyrenees is polite, affectionate, and sometimes silly. She healthy at 75 pounds. She was found as a stray when she tried to join a feral cat colony. She was stealing their food bowls!

Sweet Zendaya (aka Zenny) loves people, is great with cats, and loves playing with the other big dogs.

She has medium energy, enjoying running, romping, and playing, then settles down quite nicely, showing her relaxed zen side.

Her best friend is another SPIN foster dog named Briscoe. [Hint: You can adopt two dogs!] She likes to follow him around and bark at what he barks at. They get the zoomies together, but don’t rough house too much when they play. She is great with the cats in her foster home.

Zenny is fully house trained, leash trained, and crate trained. She is getting used to car rides; right now, she gets nervous but does okay. She isn’t much of a barker.

She would do best in an environment on the calm side, because she can be sensitive to loud, high-pitched noises and try to hide.

She needs a 6’ fence, but she prefers to be indoors anyway after living her previous life outdoors.

Ari update! 🚨 From her foster: "Ari slept soundly her first night in her crate next to my son’s bed. He got up with her once to go out and then she was back in her crate. Ari has been very busy playing all day! She is smitten with my GSD, Mac, and although he is not sure what to make of her, he is so gentle. I think he secretly is smitten too, but doesn’t want her to know.. 😂. On the other hand, my Pyr, Finn, is a party pooper and does a low growl when she is within a one mile radius of him 🤦🏻‍♀️. But he can’t rain on her happy, tail wagging parade!"

Adopt Briscoe! Around 4 yrs old, he is a big and handsome boy at 90 pounds. Briscoe has been very easy to foster. He is affectionately called “Beeeeee”.

Briscoe is social and outgoing with people. He also loves cats and is really sweet with them. He is very happy to hang out with people and cats.

He has dog friends in his foster home (he loves SPIN foster Zendaya), but he can picky about his dog friends. He needs a few proper introductions before he accepts another dog as a friend. He can be relaxed and enjoy their company and play with them; however, he does not like to be dominated. Any forever dog buddy would need to be the right personality match for him.

Beee is super goofy! He has long legs that sometimes go all over the place when he runs. While he sometimes gets the zoomies and romps through the yard, he mostly really enjoys relaxing. He likes stretching out on cool floors and lounging on his cot on the back porch. He doesn’t care much for toys or tug ropes, but he gets a kick out of shredding blankets in his crate.

He has wonderful house manners, is house trained, leash trained, crate trained, and rides well in a car. He does loves barking! He even barks at dogs on tv.

Briscoe must have a secure 6’ fence, because he is big, strong, and agile. He can easily jump a 4’ fence and can squeeze himself through small spaces when he wants to get somewhere.

Briscoe is a beautiful, large, calm, cat-loving, people-loving Pyrenees ready for his forever home! Could that be you?

Also rescued today! Meet McCormick, or Mickey for short, pulled from the same shelter as Ari, he is much smaller than her at only 10 pounds. From his foster: "He is blending in with my three dogs really well. He doesn’t seem to have had much attention so it’s all new to him. He has only been here a half a day, so I am anxious to see what adventure awaits!"

We put out a plea for puppy fosters and y'all answered! Thank you so much to everyone, we were able to make sure all three shelter puppies from our previous plea were rescued. 08/05/2024

Adopt Virgil! He is a young pup with an old soul. Born around November 2023, he sports a long, fluffy coat and a small frame. We expect he will weigh up to 70 pounds as an adult. He was under-weight when we rescued him from a local shelter, and he’s enjoying the extra groceries he’s getting to thicken him up.

Virgil is the absolute sweetest love bug! He is very affectionate and loves to be scratched and pet and lean against his people. He has an easy-going temperament and medium energy. He is still in his playful puppy stage and figuring out his growing limbs, so he is still cutely clumsy.

He is a goofy boy - not too wild and crazy, but gets overexcited sometimes. He is learning not to jump up on people.

He plays well with other dogs and reads their body language well. He loves them all – big and small, male and female. He must have a large, playful doggy companion in his forever home. If you don’t already have a suitable buddy for him, adopt one from us!

He is also a very good boy with cats.

Virgil is full house trained. He still wakes up occasionally at night to go outside to potty. As he gets used to indoor life and being a house dog, he will likely begin sleeping through the night.

He rides very well in a car. He is leash trained, crate trained, and likes toys.

He enjoys baths!

Sweet Virgil will be an amazing companion for a loving family.

08/01/2024

Adopt Angel! She was a medical rescue due to a fractured femur that healed incorrectly, but she still runs and plays with the best of them. Angel is a puppy who loves to play with other dogs. She currently lives in a foster home with 5 other dogs and would do best in a home with other dogs that she could play with.

Angel came to SPIN in May and her birthday is guesstimated to be around June 2023, so she’s right around 1 year old now. She currently weighs about 55 pounds, and she may grow a little more, but she is definitely in the “Pocket Pyr” category, and is short and stocky for her weight.

Her coat length is long and she has lots of fluff for snuggling. She is house trained. She loves to go outside for walks, but most of all loves to go out with the other foster dogs and play.

Angel is crate trained although will become restless in the crate when crated for extended periods of time.

She does great in the car, although she still needs a little help getting in and out of cars because she struggles with jumping due to her prior injury.

She walks on a leash and knows sit, but she has a tendency to pull on the leash, especially when strangers are around.

She has a moderate amount of energy, being a puppy and having that puppy energy, and will most likely continue to be a dog that loves to play as she becomes a young adult. She will need a home with a backyard and other dogs to keep her occupied and happy.

Angel gets along well with her furry foster brothers and sisters, and in general does well with dogs she does not know.

She loves the sound of her own voice and likes to bark if she thinks there are strangers around the home.

She is timid and wary of strangers and will need to be introduced slowly and in a calm manner. For this reason, she may not be the best with young kids.

Once she gets to know you, she is very loveable and will sit in your lap or lay next to you for belly rubs and attention.

Pandora has been adopted! Pandora and her new dad have both recently recovered from an amputation surgery and they quickly became best buddies after meeting, it was a perfect match! Pandora will live on the property with one of our regular foster families and will have a never ending supply of friends. Happy tails sweet girl!

If you don't remember, Pandora was witnessed being clipped by multiple vehicles on a busy highway. Kind people stopped traffic and carried Pandora to the side of the road. The sheriff then took Pandora (and her dog friend that never left her side) to the local shelter and thats when we found out about them both. Pandora had a significant open wound to her front leg, and unfortunately Pandora never regained use of her leg. She got along great with three legs, and did wonderful through amputation recovery! We are so happy she has now found her forever family and will get the second chance at life she deserves! (And don't worry, her dog companion, Cassian, was also brought into SPIN Rescue and adopted into an amazing family).

Adopt India! Around 3 yrs old, this tender cutie pie weighs about 40 pounds and is long, tall, and lanky like a c**t.

Nicknamed Indy, she is friendly and sweet with people after being a little reserved at first. Her sad puppy eyes will win you over!

Indy is playful with anything that moves! She loves to run around outside and is very active. She also loves basking in the cool morning sun.

Our well-mannered girl is polite with people. She never jumps up on anyone. She excels in a calm, unchanging environment, and would do best in a home where everyone is as docile as she is.

Indy needs a low-key doggy companion in her forever home. She prefers dogs that are not overzealous. She is a sensitive soul who is not that much into playing with other dogs. She prefers to just hang out with them.

She is good with cats, and does well with the ones that like dogs.

She is housed trained, leash trained, and she rides nicely in a car. She is very vocal and likes to bark outside.

Amazing how SPIN can turn things around for a dog! 🤍"
