This sweet girl was found and is being fostered by one of our clients. She is a German Shepherd mix and we estimate her to be around 4 years old. She is currently staying in a home with kids and other dogs. Very friendly girl. Please let us know if you or anyone you know may be interested in more information or know where she came from! We can connect you with the client who found her if anyone has any leads 🙂
Two found puppies! One of our staff members found them running in the woods right by Thanksgiving fire rd and 42 where Selma and Clayton meet. They are two very sweet little girls who are very friendly but, a bit timid. Unsure if they were just lost or dumped as it appears they may have been out for a bit.

5 sweet kittens will be ready for their forever homes in about 3-4 weeks! They are very social and playful. Currently being fostered in a home with dogs. They will be dewormed and have their first round of their FVRCP vaccine when it is time for them to go home.
There will be a small adoption fee of $30.

🐶 Found Pet! 🐶 Does anyone recognize this cutie? One of our clients has found this 25lb Jack Russel mix and been caring for him in the mean time. He is an un-neutered male and we estimate that he is about a year old. No microchip and found in Garner. If anyone recognizes him please reach out so we can hopefully get him back to home! He is oh so sweet and we think someone must be missing him!

Xylitol, a common ingredient in sugar-free gum and some candies can be toxic to pets. It can even be found in toothpaste, some other the counter supplements, nasal sprays, etc. Even small amounts of xylitol can cause hypoglycemia, seizures, liver failure, or worse. Please call us, a local emergency hospital, or animal poison control if you suspect your pet ate any!
March is Pet Poison Awareness Month. This week we will be posting a few different dangers to be aware of for your pet and ways to keep them safe. Today is about human medications.
🐶 About 37% of calls Animal Poison Control receives is regarding pets ingesting human medications.
🐱 Almost 20% of the calls are due to over the counter medications such as acetaminophen, ibuprofen, vitamins, antihistamines, and cold and flu medications.
🐶 About 17% of calls are due to pets ingesting prescription medications such as blood pressure medications, antidepressants, and steroids.
As you can see by the amount of poison control calls alone, human medications are a very common source of toxin ingestion in pets. Keep your medications away from curious paws! Keep them high up and in a cabinet or somewhere your pets are unable to get ahold of them! Always call us if there’s a question! Do not hesitate to call Animal Poison Control if there is ever any doubt or if we are unavailable at (888) 426-4435 or one of the local emergency hospitals.
Is bad breath normal in pets? While it may be easy to brush off unpleasant breath as just part of your pet’s life, it is an indicator of an oral infection. The malodor is usually caused by byproducts of bacteria that form plaque, and, if not treated, dental disease. If you’ve noticed your pet’s bad breath, it’s time to give our clinic a call at 919-662-7387 and schedule a dental exam and cleaning.
Dental disease is a common, but preventable, condition. According to studies, 80% of dogs1 have some form of dental disease. If dental disease is not treated, it can lead to concerns affecting internal organs like heart, kidney, and liver. Your dog’s mouth is full of bacteria which can enter the bloodstream and trigger inflammation throughout the body causing damage to blood vessels, including the ones around the heart.

✨FOUND DOG✨ This very sweet long haired dachshund was found last night by a couple around 7pm on Pierce Rd in Garner. He is an intact male and not microchipped. He appears to be in good health and he looks well/recently groomed. Someone must be missing him terribly! Please contact us if you think you know him or if he belongs to you. You may have heard about a canine influenza outbreak making it's way around the state. We have had boarding facilities very close to us temporarily shut down due to the amount of cases they are seeing. Canine influenza is a highly contagious respiratory illness that is spread via coughing/sneezing, direct contact, contaminated objects, and people or pets moving between infected and uninfected dogs. Symptoms include a heavy cough, eye/nasal discharge,lethargy, inappetence, and fever. Dogs that come into contact with influenza almost always contract the illness. It can range from a mild illness to very severe needing hospitalization and can even turn into pneumonia. Due to the influx, we are highly recommending that you get your best friend the canine influenza vaccine as well as a Bordetella (kennel cough) vaccine. If they have not had the vaccine before, we would do the first booster and then 2 weeks later we would booster one more time for full efficacy. Our number one goal is to keep your babies healthy and happy. Please contact us if you would like to get them boostered!
