I’ve been so excited to share this product video with everyone, but we had to wait for the complete results. This Furlosophy shampoo was actually a free add-on when purchasing their dryer attachment. We were going to post a video about the attachment but I kinda forgot about it and spoiler alert, we didn’t love it. It’s not a bad attachment but we find it really doesn’t work well for our shop environment and our clients needs/wants which doesn’t mean the company or piece of equipment is bad, it’s just not meant for us. Anyways, we decided to give their shampoo a try and since our client, Mike is amazing at communicating with us and has his pups on a fantastic schedule we chose them as our first candidates. So about a month ago we tried this weird little capsule shampoo on a couple of our favorite micro sheepadoodles, Poppy and Baxter. They come every 4-5 weeks and although they’re both from the same breeder (different litters), and they have a similar coat type, they do differ and it gave us the chance to experiment a little. Don’t worry, we ALWAYS communicate with our clients if we ever use anything new on their pets and never use anything that we think may harm them. Any dog can react to any of our shampoos and conditioners just like any person can react to any kind of different product, so we communicate and if an issue occurs we’ll always re-bathe as soon as we know about it, even if that means squeezing them into a day after they’ve already gone home!
The fur bomb may be tiny but it packs an amazing punch that left their coats feeling so incredibly soft. In the video you can see me plop it into the shaker bottle and then Carla goes ahead and shakes it all up to dissolve it. I did go ahead and remove/mute some of our commentary as it would make a better blooper reel than offer any type of true explanation as to what was going on. It required a lot of shaking and it still wasn’t entirely dissolved, but was starting to make a mess so we wer

Video 2 of 2 of the matted shih tzu.
In this video you can see some thick matting behind her ears. We wanted to make a disclaimer regarding our matting policy. In our policy it states that anything that takes us more than 15 minutes to brush out or anything that takes us more than 10 minutes to shave out will be considered in our extra matting fees. This does not mean we’re going to charge you for matting automatically if your dog has matting in common areas like behind their ears, in their armpits and even on their tail. This is severe matting and we charged accordingly because it took Carla over 3 hours to just get a basic prep groom done on her. A rough down or prep groom is done before the dogs bath and for a dog her size it should have only taken Carla 30 minutes. This dog was groomed almost a week ago and Carla’s hands are still swore and cramped from the strenuous work and she struggles to grab ahold of basic every day items like a bowl of pasta. Grooming is a very laboring and physical job and it’s why we charge what we do for our grooms.
This case was very frustrating for us because 3 months ago this dog came in already matted and her owner begged us not to shave her and took her home once we told her there really wasn’t any other option. We are fortunate enough to have a lot of amazing clients who let us be the professionals, but it’s also common to experience clients telling their groomer how to do their job. When you go to someone for a service you are generally looking for someone to do a job you can’t do or don’t know how to do. Grooming is no different and we are the professional in this trade. We know what equipment works best for certain coat types and we will always take the time to address any and all concerns you have in taking care of your pups coat. Whether you’re a doctor, car mechanic, landscaper or even a stay at home parent, we’re all a professional in our own right but always remember to let the professional do what th
Video 1 of 2 of the matted shih tzu. This is before Carla started taking her down and you can see in the video that it is hard to tell where the matting is in some places. To the untrained eye, this dog looks to not be matted or as bad of shape on the surface in areas, but once in the coat we could easily tell that she was one big mat all over. This is why using a comb is so important. A brush alone will get the surface tangles but will not get deep enough into the coat to take the tangles that are down to the skin like a comb will.
We are happy to answer questions like what combs and brushes are best to use on what coat types but we just want to remind that any inappropriate and/or negative questions/comments will be removed. Thank you!
