Happy HOWL-ween! Keep the spooky fun for the humans and the scary far away from your pets! Three essential tips to keep your pets safe this Halloween:

🍫 No candy for pets! Chocolate and xylitol (found in sugar-free treats) are highly toxic to pets. Keep all goodies out of reach - and watch those sneaky paws!
👻 Costume caution! Not all pets love dressing up. If they do, make sure costumes fit comfortably without restricting movement or breathing. Safety over style!
🏡 Stress-free zone! Trick-or-treaters and doorbells can overwhelm pets. Set up a cozy, quiet space where they can relax, and make sure they don’t dash out the door.

🍫 Why Chocolate is Dangerous for Dogs: What You Need to Know

Chocolate contains theobromine, a substance that’s toxic to dogs, and can lead to serious health issues depending on the amount and type ingested. Here's what you should do if your dog eats chocolate:

Understand the Risk – Dark chocolate, baking chocolate, and cocoa powder have higher levels of theobromine compared to milk chocolate.

Monitor for Symptoms – Signs of chocolate toxicity include vomiting, diarrhea, restlessness, rapid heart rate, tremors, and even seizures.

When Andrea’s not at work (or teaching) she spends her time with her amazing husband & three daughters! Andrea is also the proud Grandma of triplet girls!! 💜💜💜

Registered Veterinary Technician / Hospital Trainer

Paige joined the Lineberger family in early 2020.

𝗝𝗼𝗯 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀: Paige is one of our hospital trainers. She works with new Assistants to train proper restraint, pathology, radiology, phlebotomy and parasite prevention. She assists doctors and helps with everything from inserting catheters and doing tests such as ECG’s & blood work.

When Paige is not at work she spends her time playing piano at church, spending time with her amazing husband and playing with her adorable labs Buddy & Tucker.💙💙💙

Fun Fact - Paige adores everything Disney and had a Disney honeymoon!!

Dana has been with Lineberger for over 19 years!!

𝗝𝗼𝗯 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀: Many days, Dana runs the floor ensuring appointments, surgeries, grooms and drop offs get all services needed and strives for the shortest wait times possible by directing all work flow. Dana also assists doctors and helps with everything from administering & monitoring anesthesia to inserting catheters, doing tests such as ECG’s and blood work.

When Dana’s not at work, she enjoys spending time with her husband, 2 children and fur babies. When she’s not cheering for High School football, shes cheering for the Tar Heel’s 💙 🏈 💙

Autumn is a beautiful time of year, but there can be some pet hazards during this season. Here are some yard cleaning safety tips to consider:

🐈 When applying lawn care products, confine your pet in a safe area.
🐕‍ If your pet is exposed to any products, contact your primary care veterinarian immediately.
🍑 Even fruit that has fallen to the ground (e.g., fruit pits, berries, seeds, leaves, stems, etc.) need to be removed from the yard.
🌿 Plants that have lost their leaves can pose a hazard to your pet’s eyes as they run or play in the yard. Secure plants with a small barrier until they sprout leaves.

If your pet is exposed to any concerning substances, contact us right away.
