The main lower Zoo will be open with the Woodlands section scheduled to open Saturday. Please be patient while we continue to clear debris….there is still much to do. Also be patient with our crews on Snowflake Rd into the zoo as they work to clear debris.

The main zoo will reopen to the public tomorrow. The Woodlands is scheduled to reopen Saturday. We’re not rebuilt, and we’ve got a long way to go with more than 1000’ of fences, and several exhibits still destroyed and plenty of trees down, But we’re opening. Thank you to the crews from The Spring church in Gate City, Gracepoint Fellowship in Kingsport, Smith Electrical Contractors Gate City and our dedicated staff for your tireless efforts to start the process.

On September 27, many across our region sustained life changing damage. We are blessed to not have lost lives, but catastrophic damage. The devastating damage at Creation Kingdom Zoo from the hurricane has been humbling. 29 enormous trees down, numerous small ones, exhibits destroyed and damaged, underground utilities and waterlines ripped out. But thankfully no loss of life. The loss in our mountain communities is varied and widespread. Keep things in perspective. We will be closed for a bit so stay tuned to our social media pages for updates.

Creation Kingdom Zoo will remain closed through at least Tuesday October 1st. We are trying to get the lower portion of the zoo cleared and opened first. The Woodlands section will take more time as entire exhibits were destroyed, utility and water lines ripped out of the ground, and fences obliterated. Our animals are all safe and healthy. There are trials in life we may not always understand, but God has a plan and perspective, trust and faith are imperative as we move forward. We will continue to keep you posted.
