Meet Pecan! This little guy is only 6 months old and weighs around 9 lbs. He is a chihuahua/jack russell terrier mix. He is shy at first, but warms up quickly. He is fine with other dogs. He has not been cat tested but we are confident he will do fine. He will need an adopter that is patient with him as he is not 100% potty trained yet. Cheerio is ready for his forever home! He went to the cardiologist earlier this month and was diagnosed with moderate to severe pulmonic stenosis. He has started atenolol, a beta blocker. This medicine lowers the heart rate and decreases the heart’s demand for oxygen which will help regulate his heart beat. He will be on the beta blocker for the rest of his life. It is a fairly inexpensive medicine and will cost the adopter around $10-$25/month. He will also be due for a follow up echocardiogram in six months to ensure the medicine is working and that is doesn’t need to be adjusted. There is a surgery that is recommended for Cheerio if his condition doesn’t improve with this medicine. It is a very costly surgery and does not guarantee a complete fix which is why we have decided to go this route and not have him go through this risky surgery at such a young age. We are hoping there is a special home out there for Cheerio. He is a very sweet boy and deserves the best! Cheerio had his adoption pending however after a recent vet visit it was discovered he has a grade 5 heart murmur. He will be remaining in our care until we know more including next steps. He has been referred to a cardiologist and will be getting an echocardiogram next month.
In the meantime, we are looking for someone to foster or foster to adopt him. He’s currently 15 weeks old and only 9 pounds (he’s a little peanut). If interested in fostering Cheerio you MUST be located in Mayfield Heights area and close vicinity (20 minutes) as his vet appointments coming up are in Mayfield Heights and Highland Heights.
All medical expenses will be covered by the rescue. All you provide is a loving home.

This is a courtesy post. Rudy was rescued from a bad situation. He has spent most of his young life in a cage. Rudy is around 1 year old. He is a pit mix. He gets along great with other dogs. We are unsure how he is with cats. He likes kids. He is crate and potty trained. He is the biggest cuddle bug and thinks he is a lap dog. He is a very sweet boy. ❤️
