Charlie’s Wags and Whiskers Online Auction starts tomorrow. This sweet lady reached out and asked if she could do this for us, to help raise funds.
Y’all, one trip with 7 kittens today to the Vet is $174, that’s just for 1st set of vaccines.
Some folks don’t get it. This is a money pit we’re doing, but we’re saving lives one rescue at a time… anything helps!

Please join us Sept 20-29, 2024 for our first online fundraiser auction for Charlie's Wags & Whiskers, a 501c3 rescue in Gatesville, TX. Since this rescue is "local"to Gatesville, TX some items can be picked up instead of mailed. These will be labeled as such.
Let's make this a fun, successful fundraiser for this hardworking mother-daughter rescue team!

Ya’ll this was such a neat experience.. this was right before we took in Miss Misty girl and kitten season really kicked off. We now currently have 4 doggos, 84 cats & kittens… 60+ of those are kittens. This is a tough job and we are tired but these babies need us.
We’ve learned so much in the last 10 months and have met some great people as well as networked. We do appreciate everyone who’s donated and helped us along the way

As Charlie Sommerfeld & I drove to pick up another dog that was trapped in “Evant Sting” to stay at Charlie's Wags and Whiskers until morning… we couldn’t help but notice God’s beauty.
It truly looked like we were driving into a vortex! Anyway maybe we were just delusional from lack of sleep… but it looked pretty cool.
Okayyy bye. Another long day at it tomorrow!

In just a few short days… Misty is coming out of her shell.
When we did intake on her she had not wagged her stumpy tail for anyone nor showed any kind of excitement. She’s beginning to trust again. She brings us so much joy! Her wounds are healing nicely and she loves being outdoors! 🩷 (of course for short periods of time) thank you all for everything you e done to help with this sweet gal!

🔅Sunday- Closed- family day
🔅Monday- Closed-deep sanitation/litterswap
🔅Tuesday- Closed-travel to get cats spay/neutered
🔅Wednesday- 2pm-6pm open to public
🔅Thursday - 2pm-6pm. Open to public
🔅Friday- 2pm-6pm open to public
🔅Saturday- 10am-4pm open to public

🆘We have decided to implement $5 entry to come in and visit on Saturdays.
🆘Donations can be dropped off by the door or if we’re open, come on in.
🆘We are truly struggling to keep the lights on and water running with the expense of Vet Bills.

We will continue this until Charlie Sommerfeld graduates in May and then we will start implementation of Doggie Day Care. Then boarding.
🧡🧡Microchips are in and our current residences will be chipped first then we will offer to public!🧡🧡
📌Our adoption costs are LOW… we even dropped them Saturday to $50 for a spay/neutered, fully vaccinated cat/dog. Some of these cats have well over $300 into one vet visit for particular cats.
We want more time to spend outside with the dogs as well. It’s just me in the mornings, so most of my time is spent inside preparing/cleaning for the public to walk in at any given second.
💜CoDa Canine Obedience, LLC graciously took in one of our rescues to give her some basic manners and we will continue to work daily on her, as well as teach the other 2 what we learned when she returns. So they are “more adoptable” to the public.
❌Believe me, we knew rescue would be hard but PEOPLE, unfortunately, make it more difficult.
🛑We CAN NOT take dogs off the street.
I have had to come out of pocket for dumped dogs, people just showing up at the door cause they don’t want to take it to shelter, people arriving with cats in tow to expect us to take them when we are full…. Ect.
Even with a discount a vet visit is still $70 plus vaccinations for these animals.
We have several fundraisers planned to include a pet pageant, Cat yoga, Easter egg event, sausage wrap sale, and a few other things to help raise funds to cover expenses.
🐶 The dog park will remain open to the public 7 days a week. All we ask is if our rescue dogs are in one playing, just jump over to the other one.
