Wow… what a year it has been. I cried scrolling through these old photos of the battle we’ve fought over the last 365 days.
We’ve saved approximately 300 surrenders and rescues in over a years time and found homes for over half of those!
At one point in the peak of kitten season we had 80 cats in our facility.
From fundraisers, community support, laughs, frustrations, heart wrenching sadness… we are still here!
At the beginning of the year we started with the 4 dumped siblings… then another dumped couple nights after new years.. we still have 2 sisters.
A terrible freeze, the viral post of Charlie Sommerfeld stray station, we gained a 4 day old kitten that we didn’t know had Cerebellar hypoplasia, a momma that got very sick and we became bottle mommas to her 6 kittens, turning very much DOG people into cat people, rescued the infamous severally injured, Misty (who we still have, who hated people to begin with, still does except charlie and I), went on our first ever animal trapping adventure, lots of fleas, baths, love, nurturing, SO MANY VET VISITS…
But then as soon as charlie graduated… the worst happened and just continued from there.
Feline Parvo (VERY RARE) entered our facility, this was the hardest part… there was nothing we could do to stop it… no matter that we did intake properly, got vaccines, properly sanitized daily… it took 31 kittens from us. Ones that we loved so much no matter how long we had them.
We thought things were better… then we had an attempted break in… with no help from law enforcement we did what we thought was best to close temporarily because we didn’t know what was next.
We had 2 creeps stalking, people demanding to get in… so we saved and saved where we could and have purchased NVR cameras. Still lack 2 from being installed but it’s coming…
Our blink cameras just weren’t enough. We worked tirelessly doing fundraisers over the last few months… we can’t thank everyone for your support.
Soooo with all the mess… we are claiming a NEW YEAR… it will be bigger and better.
More fun activities, we want to give back to our community even more, and thank all the folks that have stuck by our side!
We’ve met so many people, we call friends now! We’ve struggled with possibly closing the door because we couldn’t make ends meet no matter what we did…
But here we go… can’t wait to see everyone.
We will still keep the door locked for the time being but be on the lookout for some awesome news in a couple days!
We ended the year taking in another 2 dogs, I know we’re a glutton for punishment, and the very last picture will show you exactly how Gordon feels about this year!
Love y’all, thank you!
