We added hours for availability by appointment on Thursday’s & Saturday’s at The Coryell County Pet Rescue - No Kill & The Boutique Grooming & Boarding. 2217 E. Main St. Gatesville. All of our Volunteers have full time jobs elsewhere & full time families. When we are available for appointments on Thursdays & Saturdays, we book them. When no appointments are made for those days, we only have kennel hands on duty who cannot answer your adoption or grooming questions. The Open sign is off & the door locked. No amount of pounding will make it open. The phone goes to VM when we are not there. We do answer your calls about grooming, boarding appointments made to the Boutique line as well as emails concerning adoptions via

Yes, pet dumping is a felony in Texas, depending on the circumstances:

First offense
Abandoning a pet in Texas is a Class A misdemeanor, which can result in up to a year in jail and a $4,000 fine.

Third offense
A third offense of abandoning a pet is a state jail felony, which can result in up to two years in jail and a $10,000 fine.

Judge discretion
The judge has the discretion to impose additional punishments depending on the severity of the case.

Other animal cruelty offenses in Texas include: Torturing animals, Neglecting animals, Not providing food or shelter to animals, Dog fighting, and Shooting non-livestock animals.

Texas also has civil laws to protect animals from cruelty, but these laws have a broader scope and apply to both domestic and wild animals.

Happy Paws!!! Zuma was adopted this Saturday, wont go home until the 25th, though. He has to get the 2nd round of puppy shots.

Bo was adopted to Mr. H. on 05Sep24 Mr. H. was so happy to see Bo and Bo took to him immediately. Daisy showed zero interest in Mr. H. or in Bo. She was far too busy playing with her girlfriends & napping on the pillows in the office - quite content to be on her own without Bo always stealing the show.
