Celebrating our Pygmy Hippo residents 🦛
We’re so honored to share and spread awareness about this endangered species with our community! ❤️

Between 2,000 to 3,000 pygmy hippos are estimated to be left in the wild. At Dragonstone Ranch in Gatesville, they are protected and growing in numbers.

Today we’re featuring the Red Kangaroo 🤎 The largest marsupial in the world! These iconic creatures can leap over 30 feet in a single bound and reach speeds of up to 35 miles per hour!! Known for their powerful hind legs and long tails, Red Kangaroos use their unique anatomy for balance and strength, making them superb athletes of the Outback.

Did you know?
Male Red Kangaroos can grow up to 6 feet tall and weigh around 200 pounds, while females are generally smaller and lighter. These social animals live in groups called ‘MOBS’ ..🤌🏼 and are often seen grazing on grasses and shrubs during the cooler parts of the day. ⛅️

Happy World Giraffe Day! 🦒

Today, we celebrate the TALLEST land mammals to walk the Earth 🌎 reaching heights of up to 18 feet!
These gentle giants have a special love for leaves, especially from acacia trees, which they skillfully nibble from the highest branches. 🍃

As we honor these magnificent creatures, let's also highlight the crucial conservation efforts underway. Protecting their habitats and fighting against poaching are vital to ensuring Giraffes continue to thrive! By raising awareness and supporting these initiatives, we can make a real difference. 🧡

and we just had to show off this adorable baby Dama!

Dama Gazelles might look delicate, but they're surprisingly tough! 💪🏼 They can stand up to 3.5 feet tall at the shoulder – making them the Giraffes of the Gazelle world!

Did you know they can sprint up to 55 mph?! 💨
They're also quite the social butterflies often hanging out in small, close-knit herds.

Unfortunately, the Dama Gazelle is critically endangered 💔 with their population numbers alarmingly low. Because of this, it’s always a celebration at Dragonstone Ranch when we spot a new face peaking out, knowing our conservation efforts are making a difference!

These graceful antelopes are the acrobats of the savanna, capable of jumping up to 10 feet in the air and covering distances of 33 feet in a single bound! ✨

Did you know? Impalas have a secret social superpower: their herds have a "follow-the-leader" mentality. When one impala leaps, the whole group often follows in a beautiful, synchronized ballet of survival. This not only helps them evade predators but also creates a mesmerizing display of unity.
