Sometimes you have a dog you have to feed a bit differently. Barnes is definitely one of those dogs.
1: This slows him down to eat
2: he uses his nose to hunt for his food, I usually spread it out more.
3: He needs to work for his food, and he understands I control what he needs to survive!

🌟 Exciting News! 🌟

We are thrilled to announce the launch of our nonprofit organization, a mission born out of a deep passion for animal welfare and a commitment to supporting victims of domestic violence. Our journey has been fueled by a profound love for animals and a dedication to making a difference in our community.

In Oklahoma, the reality is stark: our state consistently ranks among the highest in the nation for domestic violence. Nearly 49% of women and 40% of men in Oklahoma have experienced intimate partner violence. In 2021 alone, over 25,000 domestic violence incidents were reported to law enforcement agencies. Even more alarming, 71% of domestic violence victims report that their abusers have threatened, injured, or killed their family pets. This heartbreaking overlap between domestic violence and animal abuse, coupled with the overpopulation crisis in our shelters, demands urgent attention.

Our nonprofit aims to tackle these intertwined issues head-on. We are committed to providing safe havens for both people and their beloved pets, ensuring that no one has to choose between their own safety and the safety of their animals. Nationally, nearly 50% of domestic violence victims delay leaving their abusers due to concerns for their pets' safety, a trend that resonates deeply within our community as well.

By turning pain into purpose, our mission is to offer victims the support they need to recover without resorting to harmful coping mechanisms and to prevent the heartbreaking separation of people from their pets. This nonprofit will be a hub of passion and dedication, addressing the pressing issues of today while educating and mobilizing our community to create a better tomorrow.

We are committed to ensuring that Oklahoma no longer ranks among the highest in domestic violence and that our shelters are no longer overcrowded with loving, adoptable animals. There are many directions we plan to take this initiative, and while narrowing our focus will be a challenge, we are incredibly excited for what lies ahead.
