A**l glands are located on the rear of dogs and cats. The glands produce an oily, fishy-smelling fluid that helps with scent marking. Sometimes these glands can get impacted or infected.

Lilac (Syringa spp) are remarkably fragrant spring flowers. These delicate blooms add a splash of beautiful purple, pink or white to your garden. They will attract bees and other pollinators to your garden as well! These gorgeous shrubs also happen to be pet safe. Though considered non-toxic, pets can still experience upset stomach if plant material is ingested. Use caution to differentiate these non-toxic plants from the more toxic Chinaberry (Melia azedarach), also called Persian lilac or Indian lilac.

With tomorrow being Hairball Awareness Day, we wanted to remind our cat parents about the importance of preventing hairballs.
Accumulated from excessive grooming, hairballs can build in your cat’s digestive system and either get coughed up or in some cases, need surgical removal.
If your cat is excessively vomiting, lethargic, loses their appetite, or has diarrhea or constipation, these may be signs of a blockage and you should contact our team immediately.

Today is Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day, when people around the world take a moment to remember the pets who have crossed the rainbow bridge. Please feel free to share pictures of the beloved pets who have left paw prints on your hearts. 🐾
Heat stroke is a dangerous illness that we want everyone to stay informed and prepared for. Our staff had a few things to say to prepare yourselves for this extreme heat in these next few days. If you feel your pet is experiencing a heat related illness, please call us and head to Valley Animal Hospital or an emergency clinic right away.
Today is Word Pet Memorial Day. We know the immensely positive impact pets have on our lives, and one of the greatest drawbacks of having a pet is that we have to lose them. No matter how or when we lose our beloved family members, their love lasts a lifetime. Remembering our pets doesn’t have to be sad.
