Snickers is Thankful for your prayers 🙏🏾🐶
Here is Snickers on the way home. She is so happy! Her vet called this morning and said, "Snickers is doing great. The prayers worked!" She has new med and advised to discontinue Purina dog food (a problem recently). She might be partially deaf from the seizures. But she is alive, happy, and bouncy as usual.
Thank you to everyone who prayed for her and contributed to her vet bill. And thanks to our fabulous vet team for saving our sweet Snickers!

A long time volunteer gave Slate a very Merry Christmas.
In The New Time, many of the people had lost pieces of their souls and the memory of their kinship with Brother and Sister Dog, and all the other animals. It was during such a time that a kind-hearted red dog was abandoned in a strange town beside the great river. Some of the people admired her big floppy ears and loving eyes, but no one wanted a dog. So the red dog learned to take care of herself.
Soon she was taking care of other puppies that had been abandoned, guiding them and trying to keep them safe. A few of the people would put food out, but the red dog stood back and did without so her adopted pups could eat.
Now, back in the Olden Time, Brother Dog, like Brother Wolf, could survive in the wild on his own. But the people had tamed Brother Dog, letting him think he would be loved and cared for, so he lost his survival instincts and became dependent on man. Then more and more people began losing their humanity, and forgetting their responsibility to the Creator to take care of His animals. Instead, the dogs and cats were despised or ignored and called “Strays”, no longer protected and loved.
They were allowed to multiply freely and soon there were so many puppies and kittens that hundreds of them could not find homes. Many would die, but those who lived would grow up to be sick and unwanted strays.
Like any homeless stray, the red dog began to get sick and weak. Within two seasons she was so sick and crippled she could no longer take care of herself or the pups. Some of the humans who knew her started trying to find her a home. But no one would take her even though some felt very sorry. Then it was too late.
Before she died some people saw how she still tried to help her beloved puppies even when she could barely stand. One of the people held her and cried, calling her an angel dog, knowing that she truly was one of God’s Angels. She died on the day she was named Angel Dog.
All the people saw her picture in the newspaper and heard about her bravery and how she helped the little ones right to the end. Many people were sad and cried for Angel Dog. Some came forward wanting to keep that from happening to other animals. They knew she would want people to keep helping the animals. They knew Angel Dog had done what they should have been doing all along.
So people brought all kinds of things for dogs and cats. They brought toys and food, blankets and towels, pens, collars and leashes. Some wanted to work. Some brought money. Others took things from their home and said, “Let’s have a yard sale”. And so a man loaned a building.
“We must organize and get a name,'' said one lady. “The name must be Angel Dog Rescue,'' said another. “Yes! Yes!”, they cried.
The newspaper people heard the commotion from across the great river. “We will help you”, they said. “Everyone must know what has happened because of Angel Dog. Then more people will want to help the animals”.
And that is just what happened. Some cared for the animals, some made money, and others spread the word. All the Angel Dog people worked hard to help the abandoned ones get well and find forever homes.
And what of Angel Dog? Well, she has a forever home in Heaven now. Her pain is gone and her heart is glad that more and more of the people remember their kinship with their animal brothers and sisters.
The people by the Great River will never, ever forget the kind red dog with big ears and loving eyes who showed them what to do. Angel Dog.
