Who can help us geld a jack that we have been asked to take in? An owner surrender, and we want to help! However, with the donkey being a jack, we need assistance with his gelding. It’s $600 to geld a donkey (or at least it was last year). We would love to help this owner, but we want this donkey to have a safe future. Jacks can be dangerous, and we certainly don’t want to promote breeding. There are way too many donkeys that end up in bad situations. We know we can’t save them all, but we could help this boy. Please consider making a difference to this donkey! All donations are tax deductible! Thank you!

What a beautiful day!! I really needed this. I took part of the day off to go to Cincinnati with my daughter Kayy. 71 degrees, blankets are off! (For now, snow next week! 😫) Big Mama was given the “coin slot” method to learn what a treat is. She now loves them! Why do we want our equines to know what treats are? It really helps to make progress with scared, feral donkeys. Eventually they will all be coin slotted 😂. The donkeys will continue to make progress in trusting people. In the meantime, our personal donkeys are watching my every move- lol! “MOM! What about US?”

Look at this sweetie being a big girl with her new halter! I tried fitting a new one to Fuzzy, but I don’t have one small enough. Skittles is wearing a foal size from Rugged Ride (Chick’s Saddlery). This pink looks perfect on her!
In other news, I’m pretty sure I saw a bag starting in Cadbury’s udder. 😳 She’s the only mean one in the bunch (I’m sure she has every right to be that way). It’ll be difficult to tend to her or her baby, unless she comes around quickly. She’s so defensive, and I can tell she’s been mistreated. 💔

Sweet Mama 💙 I love her so much! I can tell that these donkeys have been hit before, and are very head shy. Big Mama is getting so used to me loving on her, she let me halter her. I could see the hesitation, but it shows that she trusted me enough to let me put the halter on and adjust it to fit. She’s learning about giving to pressure, too. She is making huge strides, and so are the babies. No force needed, just lots of praise and positive reinforcement (lots of kisses, too 😂).

I’m crying happy tears!! Look at Noelle with her new best friend!! It’s not even been 24 hours since she went to her new home. We normally want donkeys to go with other donkeys, but Noelle was an exception. She was here for 14 months, and never really hung out or bonded with any other donkey. She found the perfect home. That’s all we ever want for our rescues. 💙💙💙💙💙 Thank you, Casey, for giving her that home!

Happy adoption day, Noelle! This donkey spent a little over a year with us and is so special! She will be so missed at the rescue, but we can tell that she will be so loved in her new home!

Texas donkeys all snug inside, out of these brutal temps. They’re a little spoiled already. They couldn’t get back inside quick enough. Big Mama, Fuzzy and Skittles wouldn’t even leave the stall for me to clean it. Smart asses, literally! 😂😂😂

Here we go again- lol! (We are so looking forward to Spring.)
Here is an update for our
interested adopters!
I FINALLY had the chance to go through several applications. It’s been a struggle, as I’ve been so busy taking care of everyone, plus health issues with my daughter Kamela. I am so thrilled that several people are approved. I will be contacting you asap. Some applications are missing photos of the fencing, shelter or barn, so we will need to see those before approving your application.
How do we decide? Well, we not only look at your physical environment, your vet and farrier. We want our equines to have the best possible future. So many come to us with sad backgrounds. We want the best and they DESERVE the best.
Our donkeys need other donkey companions. It’s a fact. There are a few exceptions, but they can get so depressed being alone.
We will give priority to people with other donkeys, or donkey experience, all other things being equal.
Hopefully this explains a bit about the process. We not only get very invested physically and financially with our rescues, we get really emotionally attached too! It’s like watching your children leave the nest. You’d want the best for them, too!
The other thing I want to mention- even if you are approved to adopt, the donkeys might not be ready. We work with them daily. Some turn the corner very quickly, and let down their guard. Others take a lot longer. It may be the result of the abuse they suffered. We will send them off to their new homes, if and when both the adopter and the donkeys are ready.
Please message me with any questions. We are here to help, and we thank you for your interest and support!

Today was back breaking day. I was able to get the stalls mucked, although I couldn’t quite make it to the muck pile. It’s horrible- either deep mud that buries the wheelbarrow, or it’s frozen with ankle breaking ruts. Everyone has clean stalls, fresh water, grain and lots of hay. Big Mama, Fuzzy Wuzzy, and Skittles were all awesome. I literally was using the muck fork under them and around their feet. They didn’t care! That’s the sign of great donkeys when you don’t have to worry about being kicked. They’ve come a long way since they were dropped off here six weeks ago. Cadbury, on the other hand, was not having it. She said “No way” to her blanket, and I was working alone. I couldn’t risk injury, so she’s the only “naked” one. I got a better look at her belly, and she’s either pregnant (probably), or pulling a scam like Noelle. 😂
Today is “Two for Tuesday!” Can you spare $2.00 to help us buy shavings, vaccines and hay for these rescues? Every dollar helps, especially since I spoke with PayPal today about the retracted $1425 donation from Mary. I’m not feeling hopeful. 😭
We won’t know for 90 days! 😫

Mothering is a tough job! I walked in to see Big Mama napping. Now that Skittles is in with Fuzzy Wuzzy, she’s nursing both of them. Such an awesome donkey! Skittles is learning that pets are good things, nothing to be scared of. Of course, Fuzzy wants all of the attention-lol!

Also available for adoption is Ladybug. She is a miniature “Medicine Hat” filly. She was born to one of our rescues here on our farm last May. She comes from registered parents, but does not come with papers. She is fully vetted with a fresh trim. Please pm any questions. The application to adopt is in the comments.
