A huge congratulations to Russell, our spooky ghost, who floated into first place with the most likes! 👻🐾 And let’s not forget Marley, our adorable little bumble bee, who buzzed into second place. 🐝👏 We've reached out to their owners, and they'll be collecting their well-deserved prizes soon.

👻🐾 Nora, the mini schnauzer, and her pirate friend are all ready for Halloween! She hopes that everyone has thought of their four-legged visitors and stocked up on delicious dog biscuits or other tasty morsels. After all, Halloween is a time for everyone, humans and dogs alike, to enjoy some treats and fun. Here are some paw-some tips to ensure your pets stay safe and happy this spooky season: 🐶🐱

👻 Keep Treats Out of Reach: Chocolate and candies are a big no-no for pets. Make sure all sweet treats are stored securely away from little paws.

🎃 Choose Pet-Friendly Costumes: If you’re dressing up your pet, ensure the costume is comfortable and doesn’t restrict movement, vision, or breathing. Avoid costumes with small, chewable parts.

👻 Create a Safe Space: With trick-or-treaters knocking, the constant doorbell or visitors can be stressful. Provide a quiet, safe space for your pet to retreat to if they feel overwhelmed.

🎃 Decorate Safely: Be cautious with candles, wires, and other decorations. Pets can easily knock things over, leading to potential hazards.

🐾 ID Tags and Microchips: Make sure your pet has an updated ID tag and, if possible, a microchip, in case they make a dash for freedom.

Artemis, a 4-month-old fluffball of a kitten, was practicing his best Halloween scare when Dr. Sharp walked in. 🎃 Looks like he's already mastered the art of the perfect spooky expression! He was excited that National Cat Day and Halloween were both in the same week.

🎉 Happy (Belated) Boss's Day! 🎉

We may be a little late, but today we are finally ALL here together to celebrate. A huge thank you to our fantastic bosses—your guidance, support, and dedication make our workplace a better place every day. 🩺 Case of the Week 🩺 Nugget's Piggy Predicament!

Meet Nugget, the most friendly little guinea pig 🐾 who recently came to our clinic when his owner discovered a small scratch in his left eye. Dr. Armstrong identified the source of the injury as a piece of hay from Nugget's cage that had somehow scratched his eye. She prescribed a regimen of antibiotics 💊 and eye drops for a few days, but unfortunately, Nugget's condition worsened and he developed an ulcer. Dr. Armstrong recommended a left eye enucleation to prevent further pain. Nugget's surgery went smoothly, and his incision healed up very nicely. His owner has let us know that he is adapting wonderfully to life with one eye, and it has not slowed him down one bit! 👏🏻 🫶

It's unanimous! 🍁 After consulting with our most cooperative patients (the cats were not willing to participate 🐾) the results are in, and everyone's favorite fall scent is White Pumpkin! 🍂🎃 Even Dr. Tritsch agrees—White Pumpkin is his top pick too! 🕯️ We still have plenty of our fall Pet Odor candles in stock, perfect for cozying up your space and getting rid of any pet odors! 🐶🐱 Sniff them while supplies last!

🐾 What's cuter than ten Rottweiler puppies coming in for their first vet visit in a wagon? How about ten Rottweiler puppies who are so comfy and cozy they can't be bothered to wake up for their first round of vaccines! 😴 These little bundles of joy were all tuckered out and preferred nap time over any disturbance. 🐶💤

Puppies should receive their first set of vaccines when they are 6 to 8 weeks of age. After that, they should receive a series of vaccines every two to four weeks until they are 20 weeks old. At CKVC, we will send reminders when your puppies next set of vaccines are due so you can stay on schedule. 🗓 💉

🐾 New Patient Alert! 🐾 🐈

Say hello to Fig, a sweet 4-month-old Sphynx who was such a good girl during her first visit at CKVC! 💕 Since we are a Cat Friendly Practice, hopefully she had a great experience and wasn’t very stressed. Hairless breeds like Fig are unique due to genetic mutations that eliminate their protective fur, so they need special care. These adorable kitties often have trouble staying warm, making sweaters and cold-weather gear essential. 🧣🧥 If your hairless feline loves sunbathing on a window sill, remember to protect their skin with pet-safe sunscreen. ☀️ Regular baths may be needed to manage oil buildup on their skin, too. Plus, these energetic fur babies have a higher metabolism, so a high-quality diet is a must to keep them healthy and happy. 🐱✨

🐾🐶 Canine Corner 🐶🐾

Have you ever seen a dog as happy as this during rehab therapy? Meet Don Capone, the most adorable and friendly American Bully! 🥰 This guy just wrapped up his last rehab appointment with Korey, our Canine Rehab Practitioner. Back in July, Don Capone underwent TPLO surgery (Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy). TPLO is a surgical procedure performed on the knee to repair a torn ligament called the cranial cruciate ligament. This ligament is similar to the ACL in a human knee. 🦿 Since August, he has been coming in weekly for his rehab appointments, always working so hard, and always being such a good boy. How can you not smile watching him in the water treadmill? 🐶❤️
