Did you know?
The Iditarod Race is happening right now in Alaska!
Here are a few fun facts!
1) The Iditarod race started as a life saving race to Nome, Alaska in 1925 to deliver life saving medication with the famous Balto leading the way to now being a race to honor that famous ride and to honor the way of life in Alaska.
2)The Race only allows northern breeds of dogs to compete, that includes Alaskan Malamutes, Siberian Huskies and Alaskan Huskies.
3) The Race is approximately 1,000 miles with the Northern route being 975 miles and the Southern route being 998 miles. The race alternates which route they use.
