Sonny’s Advanced Exterior run. I was happy and proud that he stayed focused and kept working. Exteriors have been a bit of a challenge for us as he can get easily distracted. Did someone say squirrel 😉?

So today was Sonny’s day to hang out with Mom at the scent work trial. We had a beautiful day together and qualified in all 4 of our events 🎉. I’m very proud of his hard work and focus 😊.

Today has been bittersweet for me. Had a wonderful time with Crusher at the nose work trial, but kept thinking about this guy too. Today marks 3 years since losing Buddy. Here he is at the same venue we were at today, posing with his ribbons. We got started in dog sports late, well into his senior years, and he was 15 years old at the time this photo was taken, just 11 months before his passing. This was a great achievement for us because we had finally completed his AKC Novice Scent Work title. We didn’t compete nearly as often as I do now with my dogs, and at the time, there weren’t as many clubs holding trials as often, so it took longer to earn our title. 

He was the dog that taught me much of what I know today. I am forever grateful to him for his love, companionship, loyalty, snuggles, patience, partnership, work ethic, example. He is ALWAYS in my daily thoughts and heart. Missing him every day 💙.

Couldn’t close out this day without wishing our Charlie girl the happiest of birthdays 🎉. Can you believe that she’s 6 years young already? They say age is only a number and in her case, I believe it, because she’s as playful and mischievous as she was as an adolescent!

Final results from this weekend’s Scent Work trial:

11 qualifying scores
4 new titles
2 Overall Novice titles

The Wonder Twins worked hard. I’m so very proud of them. Many thanks to our awesome Nose work instructor, Naomi Boyar for your support and coaching and to Capitol Dog Training Club of Austin for putting on the trial.

Had so much fun with my boys today at the CDTCA Scent work trial. Crusher qualified in Buried Advanced, Advanced Exteriors and Novice Containers and he earned his Advanced Exteriors title!

Sonny qualified in Buried Novice and Novice Exteriors, titled in both today too and earned his overall Novice title 🎉! We are all exhausted, but enjoyed each others company and seeing some of our doggy friends 😊.
