Bambi is a Doodle that is very shy right now, but is showing promising signs of warming up! Guessed to be just under a year old, she will need training with a gentle hand. She does enjoy pets and will no doubt be a great snuggler once she gets relaxed! She's pretty anxious here and would love to find a new home soon!

Rosé is a Pit/Border Collie(?) mix. This almost-2-year-old is super smart and eager to please! Will do anything for a treat (which she takes gently!) She can get quite excited (especially when it comes to full body rubs and pets!) and has a lot of energy, but can come back "down to earth" well. She's got Sit down pat, and quickly caught on to Come and Lay Down! She loves to play and thinks squeaking toys are quite interesting! She also gets along with most dogs, kids, and did we mention she's housebroken?

Heidi is a feisty Spaniel mix girl! She can be wary of people at first and will bark a lot at strangers. She needs someone who can be patient with her, because once you earn her trust, she is quite the cuddley little lady! She LOVES toys, but especially the squeaky kind! She is high energy and independent, but she picked up sit quick once you have something she wants (usually a toy!)

Tilly is a sweet Lab/Hound mix who just wants to cuddle and hang out! Black dogs often get overlooked, but this is one to take notice! She can be nervous at first, but warms up quick and super sweet, especially for treats! She can get a little too excited for treats, but shows great promise in learning how to take them gently. She'd love to cuddle with you on the couch or go for a run!

This fella cleaned up pretty good!😍Winston was very thin and very matted when he came in. He had to go to the vet to be shaved and he even had sores under all that matted hair. 🥺But he won't ever have to worry about going hungry or having matted hair again! He has found a wonderful home where he will be treated like a king!🤗He deserves the best! His new mom says he's eating well and he's made himself right at home!💙Happy trails, Winston!

Zeus is an energetic little Hound mix (we think possibly Beagle and Pit?) He likes and knows what treats are for and seems to have Sit down pat, if not more! He and Rambo were in a terrible housefire (see the specks on his face?), but were rescued and survived with a clean bill of health. Unfortunately, their owners were displaced and couldn't care for them. They've been through a lot, and may be a bit stressed, but they're adapting well! They would love to be adopted together, but it's not required.

You can fill out an adoption application at https://scottky.rescuegroups.org/

Sky was excited to get out and go to Biggby Coffee Amerson Orchard - Georgetown, KY today! He was spinning and jumping up on people at first, but soon relaxed and waited patiently for his turn like a good boy! He licked up every bit of whipped cream in his Pup Cup! He traveled like a champ too, he'd love to go on car rides to go for runs (and get more pup cups!)

This big, beautiful boy is a 73lb Malamute/Husky mix who would love a fenced-in yard but is pretty content to be a couch potato too! He needs a home with no chickens, as he was surrendered for chasing them. He seems to get along good with other dogs and appears to be housebroken! Come on over and visit with him sometime!

Did you know that if you have a raccoon, squirrel or any other wildlife animal in your attic, walls, outbuildings, garage, etc... chances are great that it is a momma with a nest of newborn babies. This is the time of year when we receive countless calls from folks saying they think they have a wildlife animal in one of those places.

The reason that these types of calls are so numerous during winter months is because most wildlife animals are either looking for safe places to build nests for their upcoming babies or have already built the nest that now contains babies. This is baby season.... yes, even before spring.

And, did you know that if you call a nuisance wildlife control operator (NWCO) to remove the animal, they are legally not allowed to take the animals (babies included) to wildlife rehabbers? It's true, sadly.

According to the KDFWR rules and regulations, NWCO are forbidden to transfer any wildlife animal to a rehabber. Instead, they are legally bound to "dispatch" the animals that they remove from properties. Yeah, it makes me angry too. But neither the NWCO or wildlife rehabbers make these "rules"... we just have to adhere by them, unfortunately.

So, what can you do? Try hazing the animal first... its called humanely evicting. Wildlife animals will build more than one nest. They have "back-up" nests to move their babies to. We just need to do the things that will encourage them to move their babies and give them adequate time to do so.

Here are some humane eviction ideas...

➡️Sonic Boxes cost approximately $35.00 and can be purchased from Lowe’s or Home Depot. To use, rig in the direction of entry point.

➡️“Repels All” (Also purchased from Lowe’s and Home Depot). This is basically granulated ammonia. It’s an irritant and will not be tolerated. If you know where the entry points are, scatter the “Repels All” in those areas. Please do NOT scatter on the actual nest.

➡️Amber Strobe lights, which can be purchased on line or at Party City stores. Raccoons will not tolerate flashing lights for long. Rig as closely to the nest as possible.

➡️Spraying peppermint oil around the nest site or area you do not want them - some folks use this around dumpsters or trash cans as well to prevent any wildlife from getting into the trash. Spray every 2-3 days.

➡️Soak rags in vinegar and toss in the area you don’t want wildlife in and re-soak the rags every 2 days.

➡️A Portable Radio can be rigged and tuned to a talk radio station playing loudly throughout the day/night. If the animal is a momma, they want a quiet and safe environment to nurse their babies. This helps encourage her to move her babies elsewhere.

And, most importantly... when the animals have moved on, repair all entry points so that other wildlife can't get in again. Also.... Please, DO NOT trap and relocate.

*** the poster below does not belong to me and seems to be targeted to raccoons (from the pic on it), but these techniques can be used for ALL wildlife animals. It's not just for raccoons.
