🎉 Happy New Year, lifesavers! 🎉

As we step into 2025, we want to take a moment to share our heartfelt gratitude. Because of YOU—your adoptions, fostering, donations, and unwavering support—we’re able to save lives every single day. 💕🐾

𝗧𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗸 𝘆𝗼𝘂 for being the heroes these animals need. Together, we’re making miracles happen!

The shelter is closed today to give our team a well-deserved rest, but rest assured, the animals are being loved and cared for as always. 🐕🐾

We’ll reopen tomorrow at noon, ready to kick off another year of lifesaving! 🕛 Sir Rexinold is especially excited to meet you—don’t keep him waiting! 🐶✨

🎉 – Our 2nd Annual was an 𝘌𝘗𝘐𝘊 (and hilariously messy) success, thanks to YOU! 🎉

Our fearless shelter director pledged to take a pie (or 30!) to the face if the community stepped up to adopt, foster, or reunite dogs—and wow, did you deliver! 🥧🐾

𝗚𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗯𝗼𝘆 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝗿𝗶𝘅 happily volunteered as the official cleanup crew and took his duties 𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 seriously (pics or it didn’t happen… oh wait, we’ve got the pics!). 📸🐶

Last year, we smashed a sweet 17 pies. This year? 𝗗𝗿𝘂𝗺 𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗹, 𝗽𝗹𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲... 𝟯𝟬 𝗽𝗶𝗲𝘀! 🥳 Staff and volunteers had a blast celebrating this fun and sticky tradition, all in the name of lifesaving. 💪

Check out these hilarious photos, and remember, 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝗿𝗶𝘅 𝗶𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗰𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗻𝘂𝗽 𝗱𝘂𝘁𝘆 𝗮𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲!

💥 Quick note: The shelter will be closed tomorrow for the New Year’s Day holiday. We’ll be back Thursday, so swing by to meet Matrix and all of our amazing adoptable pets. Let’s start 2025 with wagging tails and happy hearts! ❤️

🎉✨ 𝘏𝘢𝘱𝘱𝘺 𝘕𝘦𝘸 𝘠𝘦𝘢𝘳 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘋𝘦𝘱𝘶𝘵𝘺 𝘋𝘢𝘸𝘨! ✨🎉

As we ring in the New Year, Deputy Dawg wants to remind everyone to keep their pets safe during the fireworks tonight (and over the next few days). Here are a few tips to ensure a happy and stress-free start to 2025 for your furry friends:

🐾 𝗖𝗵𝗲𝗰𝗸 𝗙𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀: Make sure your yard is secure—no escape routes!
🐾 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗿𝘀 & 𝗧𝗮𝗴𝘀 Ensure your pet is wearing a collar with up-to-date ID tags.
🐾 𝗠𝗶𝗰𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗜𝗻𝗳𝗼: If you’ve moved, double-check that your contact info is current.
🐾 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗼𝗼𝗿𝘀: Keep pets inside in a safe, cozy space & es**rt them outdoors until after the festivities have concluded for the night.
🐾 𝗠𝗮𝘀𝗸 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗡𝗼𝗶𝘀𝗲: Turn on the TV or some calming music to help drown out the fireworks.
🐾 𝗘𝘅𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲 𝗙𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀: If your pet struggles with loud noises, talk to your vet about calming medications or stay home to comfort them.

Let’s start the year off right by keeping our beloved pets safe and sound. Wishing you and your fur family a joyful and peaceful New Year! 🎆🐶💙

🐕 Ready to add a Deputy Dawg to your life? Come meet this charming guy and start your year with a new best friend! ❤️

🐶🐱📅 - 𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁 𝗕𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗶: 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗦𝘄𝗲𝗲𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝘆𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗼𝗻

Broccoli 🥦 might be named after a veggie, but this 2-year-old tabby boy is all heart. With his handsome stripes and affectionate nature, he’s a true delight. Broccoli adores people, actively seeking attention and returning the love with his sweet, playful energy. 🐱💜

While Broccoli is either fully blind or only able to see shadows, you wouldn’t know it from the way he navigates life. He’s a pro at adapting and doesn’t let his vision issues slow him down—especially when there are toys to bat around!

Broccoli needs to be an indoor-only cat to keep him safe and happy, but otherwise, he’s ready to thrive in a loving home. With proper veterinary care and the same TLC any cat deserves, Broccoli will bring endless joy to his new family. 🏡👪

If you’re looking for a cuddly, playful companion with a big heart, come meet Broccoli! He’s ready to prove he’s the perfect addition to your home. 🐾

🐶🐱📅 - **Meet Oso: Your Golden Companion!**

With his gorgeous golden coat and unique curlicue tail, Oso is as striking as he is lovable. This tall, lanky gentleman adores human attention and is ready to bring his calm, easygoing spirit to a new forever home.

Oso lost his previous home due to a divorce, but he hasn’t lost his warm and caring nature. He’s a joy to walk on a leash, happily strolling by your side, and would love nothing more than to be near his person. In his last home, he acted as a gentle protector for the cat and chickens, showing his peaceful and nurturing side. While he tolerates other dogs, his heart is set on forming a special bond with his new human family.

As a senior dog, Oso is looking for a cozy and loving place to enjoy his golden years. If you’re a senior human, his adoption is completely free through our Seniors for Seniors program—a perfect match for those who appreciate a loyal, wise companion.

Come meet Oso and see if he’s the perfect addition to your life! 🐾

Maurie was one of the dogs who spent quite a bit of time in the shelter. He was a little slow to accept new people into his circle but loves affection and attention from them once he does. His new person saw this about him and knew that he was the right dog for her. In order to ensure that Maurie would do well when she brought him home, she came to visit him regularly so that they could establish a bond. Over weeks, she came to visit, and Maurie slowly opened up to her.

Some dogs need just a little bit extra from their new families. A little extra time and patience could be the very best gift a dog ever receives, so that they can settle in, decompress, and know in their hearts that they're safe. And HOME.

Thank you to Maurie's adopter for giving him this gift and for sharing the photos of Maurie happy in his new home.

! Jax recently had the opportunity to head out to Monument Valley with his , and they shared these pawsome photos with us to show off what a he is.

"We have had Jax for a couple of months now and he has met all of our friends and family- and EVERYONE (literally) loves him! Jax went on a family vacation with us where we stayed with 4 other families in a large vacation home (ages varying from 3 yrs - 70+ yrs old) and 2 other dogs (one of them is my own large dog and the other 2 were small dogs) and Jax was loved by all humans and dogs on the trip. Jax even was friendly and curious about roosters across the fence in the vacation home. We even got stopped by strangers asking if they could pet him, and he received them gladly."

What's not to love? If you'd like to meet Jax, let us know in the comments!

🐱🐶📅 - 🦖 Roarrrr! I’m Tea Rex, a tabby dino-kitty here to stomp my way into your heart! 🐾 With my fur-tastic stripes and dazzling green eyes, I’m basically the queen of the Jurassic (or at least your living room). 👑

I’m a curious explorer who loves to play, especially when there’s a wand toy to swat and chase. 🎣 Sure, I’ve got a bit of a sassy streak—it’s part of my charm—but once you earn my trust, I’ll be your very own cuddle-saurus. 🦕💖

I’m looking for paw-rents who will love me for my fierce, independent spirit and give me all the time I need to warm up. 🏡 Come meet me and let’s create some roaring good times together!

🎄 From our shelter family to yours, Happy Holidays! 🎅🐾

Today, we’re taking a moment to celebrate with our loved ones—both two- and four-legged—so the shelter is closed for the day. We hope your holiday is filled with joy, laughter, and maybe even a few slobbery puppy kisses!

Speaking of slobbery kisses, 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝗿𝗶𝘅 is always ready to deliver plenty of those. 🐕 If your home could use a little extra love this season, he’s waiting to bring some holiday cheer into your life!

Enjoy your day, and we’ll see you tomorrow! ❤️

🛏️ 𝗛𝗲𝗹𝗽 𝗨𝘀 𝗚𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗗𝗼𝗴𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗳𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗮 𝗧𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗛𝗼𝗺𝗲 🛏️

Fosters are the heart of our shelter’s lifesaving mission, and we want to make fostering as easy as possible for anyone who’s willing to open their home to a pet in need. But we need your help!

We’re in need of 𝗺𝗲𝗱𝗶𝘂𝗺 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗹𝗮𝗿𝗴𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝗿𝗲 𝗽𝗼𝗽𝘂𝗽 𝗰𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀 to share with fosters. These crates provide a safe, cozy space for dogs transitioning out of the shelter, helping them feel secure while adjusting to a home environment.

Every crate donated means 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗱𝗼𝗴𝘀 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗴𝗼 𝘁𝗼 𝗳𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗵𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘀, where they can decompress, learn, and prepare for adoption. And every foster home means we can save more lives.

If you have a gently used or new crate to spare, please consider donating it to our shelter. Together, we can make fostering more accessible to our community and give more dogs the second chance they deserve.

🐾 𝗤𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀? 𝗝𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗮𝘀𝗸!

Thank you for helping us save lives, one crate—and one foster home—at a time. ❤️

About our page

WCRAS accepts all animals from within our jurisdiction regardless of health, age, temperament whether there is space or not. Adoptions and owner reclaims are vital for the shelter to continue to save at least 90% of the animals that enter the shelter. Currently WCRAS has been saving 90% or more for over three years. We only euthanize for medical that no longer have a good quality of life, or for behavior issues that make the animal unsafe to place in a home. WCRAS also relies on donations to pay for all the medical illness and/or injuries that come into the shelter. Without that support, all these animals would have to be euthanized. Thank you for sharing the animals in need of homes and supporting WCRAS!
