Dear Clients

We wanted to post this on our page just in case anyone did not get the mass email we sent out last month.

We hope this message finds you and your beloved pets well.

We are writing to inform you that our associate veterinarian, Dr. Crystal Dupuy, left our practice as of 06/12/2025. While we are sad to see her go, we are grateful for the care and dedication she has shown our clients and patients during her time with us, and we wish her all the best in her future endeavors.

Due to this change in staffing, we will temporarily be closing on Saturdays until we are able to welcome another veterinarian to our team. Our last Saturday that we will be open as of now will be 06/14/2025. Dr Hoff will be available Monday- Friday. We understand this may be an inconvenience to you, and we truly appreciate your understanding and patience during this transition.

We remain committed to providing excellent care and service to you and your pets, and our team is here to help during our regular weekday hours. If you have any questions or need to schedule appointments, please don’t hesitate to call us at 512-868-2280 or email us at [email protected].

Thank you for your continued trust and support.

Warm regards,
Castlerock Pet Hospital

Fun Fact Friday the 13th!!🐾🐾

I’m sure you’ve heard the superstitions about a black cat crossing your path. But in many other countries and cultures, black cats are often associated with good luck instead!

In Scotland, if a strange dog follows you home, you will have good luck! It’s extra lucky if it’s a black dog! I think anytime you come across an adorable pup is a good day!

Historically, black cats have been linked to witchcraft and evil, particularly around Friday the 13th. This association contributed to the misconception that black cats themselves are harbingers of misfortune.

Superstitions about animals, especially on Friday the 13th, are cultural beliefs and not factual representations of the animals themselves.

Fun Fact Friday!! 🐾🐾

While developing alongside humans, dogs developed a lot of facial muscles to help them comunicate to us throuth their expression. Dogs have coevolved with humans for so long that they can actually read facial expressions and interpret many human gestures and body language.

Dogs have an infrared detector in their nose! It is a survival technique, for them to find their mother when they are tiny and can’t see. It is also a way for them to sense predators, BUT it is also a reason why they might steal our seats on the couch when we get up!

Evidence from fossils suggests that five types of dog had evolved by the Bronze Age, around 4500BC. These were mastiffs, wolf-type dogs, dogs similar to greyhounds, pointing dogs and herding dogs. Bow wow!

Cats hold a special place as one of humanity's oldest companions. Their domestication dates back thousands of years, with evidence suggesting that cats and humans began forming mutually beneficial relationships as early as the Neolithic era!

Cats possess an exceptionally flexible spine, a key anatomical feature that contributes to their remarkable agility and acrobatic abilities. This flexibility is particularly pronounced as the cat's backbone consists of about 53 vertebrae compared to a human's 34!

Fun Fact Friday!! 🐾🐾

Cats make very little noise when they walk around. The thick, soft pads on their paws allow them to sneak up on their prey — or you!

Cats use their long tails to balance themselves when they’re jumping or walking along narrow ledges.

According to Wilde, a slow blink is a “kitty kiss.” This movement shows contentment and trust.

Cats may yawn as a way to end a confrontation with another animal. Think of it as their “talk to the hand” gesture.
