Did you know… A dog’s nostrils each work independently from one another? So a dog can take in two scents at the same time! A dog’s nose can also move air in and out simultaneously, which helps them be able to track a scent without slowing down to breathe.
Let’s see some of your best pet nose pics in the comments below. 🐶

Pumpkin & Apple Chews for Dogs
Treat your pup to a naturally sweet and chewy snack with these Pumpkin & Apple Chews! Packed with fiber, vitamins, and delicious flavor, these homemade dog treats are perfect for a healthy reward.

Why Pumpkin & Apple?
Pumpkin is rich in fiber and vitamin A, helping with digestion and overall gut health.
Apples (seedless) provide vitamin C, antioxidants, and a natural sweetness dogs love.
Ingredients:
1 cup pure pumpkin purée (not pumpkin pie filling)
1 cup unsweetened applesauce
2 cups oat flour (or whole wheat flour)
1 teaspoon cinnamon (optional, for added flavor)
Instructions:
Preheat your oven to 250°F (120°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a bowl, mix pumpkin purée and applesauce until well combined.
Gradually add flour, stirring until a dough forms.
Roll out the dough to about ¼-inch thickness and cut into strips or shapes.
Place on the baking sheet and bake for 2-3 hours until dried and chewy.
Allow to cool completely before serving.
Storage:
Keep in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week, or freeze for longer freshness.

Tip:
For a crunchier version, bake at 325°F (160°C) for 25-30 minutes instead.

These nutritious, chewy treats are sure to become your pup’s new favorite snack! 🐶🎃🍏

We are happy to ring in the New Year with some new changes! Tomorrow our new doctor starts and we couldn’t be more thrilled! In addition, we have some extended hours. We are happy to have a semi-permanent relief veterinarian, Dr. Whitaker, that will be a regular with us some Saturdays, in addition to Dr. Teri and Dr. MacQueen. We are so exited to announce the addition of a new veterinarian on The Divide!
Dr. MacQueen grew up in Santa Clarita, California. From a young age, her passion for animals shaped her desire to become a veterinarian. She completed her undergraduate studies at San Diego State University, and earned her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Western University of Health Sciences.
Following veterinary school, Dr. MacQueen completed a rotating internship on the east coast, practicing in Connecticut, New York and Florida. She then moved to Northern California for further training in Emergency Medicine and Critical Care. After falling in love with the Sierra Nevada Foothills, she decided to stay long-term, working in small animal general practice.
Outside of work, Dr. MacQueen stays busy with yoga, horseback riding, rafting, snowboarding, hiking, and struggling to keep her garden alive. More importantly, she enjoys spending time with her partner, and their ever- expanding menagerie of animals- most of whom she claims just followed her home and refused to leave.

We welcome Dr. Maggie MacQueen!! 🐾
