As we get ready to close the book on another year, The Friends of The Germantown Animal Shelter would like to say: “Thank You!” to the kind folks who supported us this year. We appreciate everyone who donated to and helped support our annual auction in March; to the girl scout troops and grade-school classes that donated bags of goodies, toys, and treats to the animals at the shelter; to the families that hosted neighborhood lemonade stands and gave the proceeds to the shelter; to the folks that made our annual Photos With Santa and The Grinch so successful, especially Germantown’s own Maddie Oldham, 2024 Miss Mid-South Fair, who donated 6 big bags of dog food at the event! We would also like to acknowledge everyone who donated money to our organization, in honor of someone special, in memory of a loved one, or just out of the goodness of their heart. We truly appreciate all of the donations and will use the money to make sure all of the dogs & cats, kitties & puppies are well taken care of and have everything they need. We are looking forward to another wonderful year at the Germantown Animal Shelter!

The Germantown Animal Shelter will be closed in observance of Christmas Eve and Christmas on December 24th and 25th. The shelter will open again on December 26th at 10:00am. Tod says have a very festive holiday and enjoy!🎄

PLEASE SHARE! 🐾As the holidays approach us please be mindful of what’s in your wrapped presents. Pets can especially be intrigued by the smell of candy, chocolate, and seasonings. Hey, neighbors! If you are planning to attend the “Photos With Santa & The Grinch” event this Saturday from 10:00 – 2:00 at Germantown City Hall, please consider bringing a bag of dog food or cat food to the event. The requested donation is only $10, and while cash is great, bags of pet food can be used or distributed right away. Any size and any brand is appreciated. Stop by Kroger or Hollywood Feed on your way over and grab some tasty morsels for the pups and kitties!
Also, The Friends of The Germantown Animal Shelter will be at the Bobby Lanier Farm Park Saturday from 4:00 – 9:00 for “Lights On The Farm”, so if you miss the earlier event, you can bring the food donations to the park. Bagged or canned products will be accepted. Thank you.

Please join us in congratulating Animal Control Officer Michal Summers for being recognized as our Animal Control Officer of the Month. Michal has demonstrated a compassionate approach to saving animals that are surrendered or found in the City of Germantown. She quickly works to help us socialize any animals that come through the doors of our shelter. She is patient and kind and we can often hear her telling a dog or cat how much she loves them. Or we hear her singing to them. 🐾🐾🎶. With an extremely long kitten season, Michal has made sure to take care of all of the kittens here. She disinfects their living quarters, monitors them for possible illnesses, nourishes them, and keeps them as comfortable as possible. Of course she also makes sure to give all animals here cuddles and good vibes as they have play time together. All of the cuddles!🐾Thank you, Michal for continuing to produce A+ Results, and for becoming a key leader of our team through your animal welfare strategies and compassion. Congratulations!

In celebration of the Thanksgiving holiday, the Germantown Animal Shelter will be closed Thursday 11/28 - Sunday 12/1. Normal business hours will resume Monday 12/2.

This sweet handsome boy needs a loving home! He is THE ONE after all!! 😎

Meet Neo. He’s a one-year-old Basenji mix who, like his namesake, has faced some challenges but keeps going strong. Left at our shelter on a stormy night, he was soaked and limping, yet unshaken. His broken elbow is healing, and—whoa—it hasn’t slowed him down at all. Neo is friendly, chill with other dogs, and ready to bring his quiet strength and loyalty to a forever family. Do you remember beautiful miss Ida? She was adopted from our shelter back in July. Sadly, she been returned to the Germantown Animal Shelter to no fault of her own.

This beautiful, sweet girl is once again looking for a home where she can spend the rest of her happy life and a family she can share many memories with. She is great with people, children, and other animals. Please come by to see this stunning girl and give her a chance; she deserves all the love and then some!
