Meet Max! This 2.5-year-old shepherd mix is looking for a loving forever home. Max had a rough start—he was left in our shelter parking lot on a rainy day, soaked to the bone. But despite it all, he’s the sweetest, friendliest guy around! Max has been on field trips, met other dogs and charmed everyone he meets. Thank you Riverdale School for hosting the Art of Rescue and Creativity last night, an artistic collaboration between shelters, humane societies, literacy, art students, and the Germantown community. We appreciate the support and including us in such a special night. Perdita, our foster to adopt pup had a great time too and made so many new friends.🐾Thank you Melissa for organizing this and thinking of our shelter. And to the hundred or so children and parents that came out🐾🫶🏽.

Thank you, Riverdale school for inviting the Germantown Animal Shelter to speak with their 3rd graders today. Our animal shelter manager was able to bring “ Snooki” out of the shelter to visit. Snooki enjoyed her adventure and so did the art students. Join us tomorrow for the school art show collaboration with local shelters. The Art of Rescue, from 4:30-6:30. Check out Riverdale’s school wide art project in support of the Germantown Animal Shelter. Each grade is creating a different project based on the shelter’s adoptable dogs or cats. Their 5th through 8th graders are focusing on a specific shelter dog or cat each. They have been busy creating art with their talents and they plan to showcase them soon on October 22 from 4:30-6:30. There were also be food trucks onsite starting at 4:00pm and leaving by 7:00pm. This is also the school’s book fair and they are gathering items through their donation drive that supports our shelter animals. We will try to bring an adoptable dog or cat for the students and parents to see to this event, if we have one that has a good temperament for crowds and noises. Max and Neo have been available for adoption for three weeks as of today and they are still waiting for the forever homes! They were dumped in our shelter parking lot over a month ago. They have come a long way since then.

Max is a loveble cuddle bug who likes to play and snuggle. Neo is a playful lover bug who loves to fetch and chew toys. Max is about 2.5 years old, and Neo is about 1 year old. They are both fully vaccinated, neutered, and microchipped.

Max and Neo inspired the names for these boys, as they have been a huge help to our shelter and other shelters like us. Consider shopping with them for your pet supply needs!

There is a good chance Max and/or Neo will be at one or both of the events we're attedning this weekend 👀 Come out to Adopt, Don't Shop Event and/or the Harvest Moon Fall Festival this Saturday! 🐾

We are excited to announce our collaborative event with Jim Keras Subaru Hacks Cross and the ASPCA on October 19, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.!

Proceeds will support spay and neuter services, microchipping and other adoption-related fees. An Animal Control Officer will be available for a few hours to answer questions about the adoption process. There will be prizes, giveaways and adoption discounts! We hope to see you on October 19! 🐾

This is Banelli. You might have seen him on our page. He was transferred to Happy Tails Canine Rescue, so if you or someone you know is interested in adopting him, he is still available for adoption through their rescue!

We would like to give a shoutout and huge thanks to groomer Tori Sneed with Healing Paws Animal Hospital for working her magic on this boy's massive matted coat. He has completely transformed from when we was originally brought to the shelter, and he is now is a loving foster home awaiting his furever family thanks to Happy Tails Canine Rescue. Reach out to Happy Tails Canine Rescue to inquire about adoption for this sweet boy.

The Germantown Animal Shelter is beyond grateful to work with groomers, rescues, and fosters to place dogs into homes and move them out of the shelter environment. We thank our partner organizations and community for all the great work we achieve together! 🐾

Banelli is now currently available for adoption and on our adoption floor. Banelli is free of heartworms and has been vaccinated and neutered.
