Stellar had a very good time at the Vikingland Thursday/Friday Masters 8/14 and 8/15. The weather threatened to get us wet but only caused minor discomfort. Thank you to the great crew of workers and a special thank you to Benita and Todd Otterness for allowing us on your beautiful property and for Benita feeding everyone. Benita, you know a Pros life is dogs first and Pros have to wait. Also a big Thank You to Curtis Lindsay and Duwayne( Dewy) Bickle for some awesome series. I made notes on what to work on between now and Master National! And as always we enjoyed the great camaraderie with Rusty, Lauren, the Sweeps, Bucko, and the Island Lake bunch. Met some new faces and look forward to seeing all again. Congratulations to all those that received a qualifying score. Stellar was fortunate to have passed all dogs entered. Baily owned by Bruce Moore, Bruce owned by Mike and Janice Woodbury, Sam and Gunner owned by Paul and Connie Brady, Jimmy owned by Doug and Amber Bishop, Wick owned by Joal and Erin Harper, Ranger owned by Chris and Lacey Hughes, and Wren owned by Chad and Sharon Sweep. Chad also received a pass with their dog Tess. Stellar was proud to receive passes on True, Cream, Shane, and Prize. Now, Stellar will enjoy the cool climate of MN for a few more weeks before heading back to summer temps in Texas. Hope to see all at Master National in October.

Stellar dogs ran at the Hennipen Retriever Club’s Hunt Test 8/9. We always like running this event. The club members have set up and moving series down to a fine art. Thank you Paul, Tom, Adam and all the others behind the scenes for making this test run smoothly. A big thank you to our judges, Lance Lerum and Mike Peterson for their time in the judges chair and for giving us three quality series. Everyone knew what needed to be improved on by the end of the 3rd series. After a brief shower which changed the wind direction and cooled things down, the weather was as welcoming and the club members. Stellar was fortunate, qualifying Jimmy owned by Doug and Amber Bishop, Wick owned by Joal and Erin Harper, Wren owned by Chad and Sharon Sweep, Sam and Gunner owned by Paul and Connie Brady, Ranger owned by Chris and Lacey Hughes, and Bruce owned by Mike and Janice Woodbury. Stellar also received qualifying scores with our personal dogs Cream, Shane, and True. Now, onto Vikingland for the last test of the Summer trip before heading back to the heat of Texas. Will definitely miss the 70’s and 80’s of Bemidji.

Sorry for this late post, it’s been a short week with lots to do. Happy 4th of July weekend to all, and prayers for the flooding happening in the Texas Hill country🙏. Stellar had very good results at the double Master Hunt Tests at Island Lake Retriever club this past Friday, Saturday and Sunday. 100% of our dogs received qualifying scores in both tests. Thank you Chad Gullickson and Island Lake club for putting on these events. Thank you Tom McKenzie ( glad to see you feeling better), and Wes Bowman for you time in the chair Friday and Saturday. The dogs that qualified this test were Wren, owned by Chad and Sharon Sweep, Bruce owned by Mike and Janice Woodbury, Sam and Gunner owned by Paul and Connie Brady, Wick owned by Joal and Erin Harper, and Jimmy owned by Doug and Amber Bishop. Stellar qualified their young dog Prize. Thank you to Wendi Mattinen and Budd Denny for judging the Saturday/ Sunday test. The dogs that qualified were Wren, Bruce and Prize. That leaves one more pass for these three youngsters to get their ticket to the big dance in Giddings this Fall. Had to share some of the photos we took of the damage the Tornadoes created between Bemidji MN and Spiritwood ND. Prayers for calmer weather and safety for all.

Stellar had very good results at the Minot Retriever Club double Master test this past week, passing 100% of our dogs in both tests. Thank you to the Minot Retriever Club for their hard work in putting on this event. Thank you John Gassner and Sheldon Berecloth judging the Thursday/Friday test, and Chris Davies and Patrick Mobley judging the Saturday/Sunday test for their time in the judges chair. Ranger owned by Chris and Lacy Hughes has qualified for the 2025 MN and Wren owned by Chad and Sharon Sweep, Bruce owned by Mike and Janice Woodbury, and Prize owned by Stellar now have three passes towards qualifying. Now it’s back to work getting everyone dialed in to compete next weekend at Island Lake. Hopefully Mother Nature will be kinder to North Dakota and Bemidji MN in the near future.

Stellar started the summer Hunt Test season in Glyndon Mn with the mid week Master’s only 6/10 and 6/11. Thank you Roger Moltzan and Sheldon Berrecloth for your time in the chair. Thank you North Dakota Retriever Club for putting on the test and working so hard, making everything run smoothly. The weather cooperated making it even more enjoyable. After having a difficult spring in 2024, it was a joy to see all the friendly faces we missed last Spring. Rusty and Bucko never fail to entertain. Congratulations to all those receiving qualifying scores. Stellar was fortunate to pass Wren owned by Chad and Sharon Sweep, Sam and Gunner owned by Paul and Connie Brady, Rowdy owned by David Dyslin, and Ranger owned by Chris and Lacey Hughes. Stellar also passed their own dogs True, Cream, Prize, and Shane. Looking forward to seeing more friends and testing in Minot ND next week.

Stellar’s spring Hunt Test season has been very successful for our clients, friends, and our personal dogs. Starting with the Master’s only Brazosport HT in February, continuing through Brazosport, Waterloo, Lost Pines and Coastal Bend there has been multiple dogs qualified for Master National 2025 in Giddings Texas. A big THANK YOU to all the clubs, their workers and the Judges who gave their time and talents for our sport. Congratulations to Wayne and Dede Paterson on qualifying Sunny, Rose, and Patience. Bruce Moore has been very successful getting his new dog Baily qualified, well done Bruce and Baily! Michael Woodbury has qualified Jim, Viktor, and Jolene. Joal Harper qualified Wick and Mia only needs two more to be qualified. Paul Brady has qualified Sam and Gunner. Chad and Sharon Sweep received Tess’s third pass towards her qualifying. Stellar’s dogs Regi, Shane, Rowdy, Cream, and True have all qualified. The up and coming generation passed their second Senior tests at Lost Pines and Coastal Bend, well done Bruce, owned by Mike nd Janice Woodbury, and Wren owned by Chad and Sharon Sweep. Stellar’s Prize also received a Senior pass at Coastal Bend. One more Texas test at East Texas Black Gumbo and then Stellar begins their northern migration back to Bemidji for a summer full of training and testing. Hopefully qualifying the up and coming youngsters.

Stellar’s 2025 Hunt test season kicked off with the Brazosport Masters only Hunt Test February 13-14, here on Stellar’s grounds. Thank you to Michael and Dorothy Ruehman for all their hard work. A big Thank you to Lin Gelbmann and Carol Hynes for their time in the Judges chairs on two very cold days. The series tested our dogs under some cold and windy conditions. Congratulation to all with qualifying scores. Congratulations to Stellar’s clients on their passes. Wayne Paterson passed Sunny, Rose, and Patience, Bruce Moore passed Bailey, Michael Woodbury passed Jim, Jolene, and Viktor, Joal Harper passed Mia, Wick, and Kicker, Jack passed Sam and Gunner for Paul Brady and Jimmy for Doug and Amber Bishop. Jack and Marta passed their own dogs Shane, Regi, Cream, True, and Rowdy. We look forward to warmer weather and the 2025 Spring season.

Stellar had a very successful event at Brazosport Hunt Test 12/7-8. Although the weather was not in our favor, rainy and cold 🥶, we enjoyed each others company. Thank you Brazosport for hosting this event, thank you to Sally Koepke and Michelle Love for your time in the judges chair. These two ladies did a great job setting up series to test our dogs in some very difficult conditions. Congratulations to all who received passing scores. Stellar’s Paul Brady passed his big boy Sam, Mike Woodbury passed Viktor and Jim, and Wayne Paterson passed Patience. Well done guys! Stellar passed Gunner owned by Paul Brady, Jolene owned by Mike and Janice Woodbury, Ranger owned by Chris and Lacey Hughes, and Wick owned by Joal Harper. Jack also passed his dogs Regi, Glory and True. Marta passed Shane and Cream. Our youngest member, James Wall, has a good start in hunt tests with his first two passes in Jr with his dog Glory. Looking forward to the 2025 Hunt Test season and the road to Master National.

Hey all, Tess here with the final page on Master National 2024. Though the rain tried to soak our spirits Flight C would not surrender our spirit of Joy and camaraderie. Although we were trailing the other flights, Charles Pugh was unruffled, or so it appeared. The whole Flight put their big pants on and did what needed to be done to finish strong on Tuesday, holding our awards ceremony Wednesday morning. Shawn Kimberly and Dan Heard were rightfully honored for their great work in organizing all of us and setting Olympic worthy records for setting up and tearing down each day. 👏👏👏 to them both! Stellar’s clients made us proud at their outstanding handling of their dogs, even if not all received plates, they all did great work. Special congratulations to Dede Paterson and her dogs Rose,who is now an MNH, and Sunny and Michael Woodbury on his passes with Jim and Viktor. Jack qualified Jolene, owned by Michael and Janice Woodbury, Jimmy, owned by Doug and Amber Bishop,and is now an MNH, and Gunnar owned by Paul and Connie Brady. Stellar’s own dogs to bring home plates included Regi, Glory,now an MNH4, True, and Cream. With that said, now the really hard work begins as Texas will host the 2025 Master National and the whole Stellar gang along with many others will be diligently working to make it a great event.
