We are Extremely excited to introduce Megan as our Integrated Systems Education Lead! We look forward to sharing some exciting, upcoming classes and workshops 💜
Megan Bonnett was born into a family of nature enthusiasts and as a child, her love for other-than-human Nature was obvious to all who knew her. As she grew up in the Texas Hill Country, this love grew into a desire to understand and eventually to teach the workings of the natural world. To that end, Megan earned a degree in wildlife biology from Texas State University and shortly thereafter began a career as a naturalist and outdoor educator working for a variety of conservation, education and non-profit organizations in and around the Austin area. For over a dozen years, Megan taught people of all ages, in and out of the classroom, about flora and fauna, edible and medicinal flora, ancestral folklore and skills, nature appreciation and nature-based crafts. She also assisted in the coordination of the Texas Wild Rice Festival in San Marcos, Texas in 2013 and 2014 and Legacy Camp at Shield Ranch in Dripping Springs, Texas in 2016. She hosted private nature hikes for families, friend groups, school groups and others in and around the San Marcos, Texas area from 2017 to 2022, as well. In her career, her singular focus has been to help other humans to dive as deeply as they are willing into a personal and reciprocal relationship with the rest of nature through an understanding of individuals of other species, populations and systems, and through an understanding of the human heart and its often intense longing to belong, again, to the natural Home from which all humans come. It is her goal to give to other humans the tools and perspectives that could help to guide them back Home; a reintegration of the human into the natural world.
