Daphne’s 6th Birthday!
The Friedland family celebrated Daphne’s birthday with a special treat. Happy Birthday Daphne, you’re looking good 🎈🐾
Are you ready to open your heart and home to a special boy named Buster 🐾💜 He came into our program in May. He was at Pinal County Animal Control as a stray and we were told he could be a sheltie mix. Altho upon meeting him we determined that he probably doesn't have much, or any sheltie in him, he is a sweet guy worthy of love.
He is estimated to be about eight years old. He is pretty small at about 20 pounds and could stand to gain a few pounds. Buster has settled in well with his current foster family and is a pleasant guy. He has gotten along fine with the other household dogs but seems to be a little unnerved at rambunctious dog play or activity. He tends to remove himself from such behavior and we think he would do best in a quieter household. We think he would be fine with cats and all but the smallest children. He does not seem to be a very active dog. He enjoys human attention and we could easily see him as a senior companion. We think he will do well in most homes.
Buster has been neutered while in rescue and had an extensive dental. Unfortunately, he ended up losing all but a few. This has not hampered his appetite at all! While in the shelter Buster was observed to have some vision impairment which we confirmed with an eye specialist. He does have some cataracts but the specialist indicates that she does not think that is the cause of the impairment but rather a retinal issue and probably degenerative. So, he can see relatively well currently and gets around fine in the house but it quite possibly can get worse. He does not seem to be in pain and has been adjusting quite well to his vision loss. He readily uses the dog door. If you or anyone you know might like to be Buster’s forever home applications can be found on our website www.swcsrescue.com
Lassie at Rehab
Lassie is progressing well with her rehab after a 2nd leg surgery, she actually looks like she enjoys the underwater treadmill!
Meet Crumpet!
Crumpet is about 8-9 months old and is the smartest dog her foster family has seen. She is a mix, possibly an honorary sheltie mix, but cute as can be! Crumpet will need an active and fun family that will continue her training. She could possibly excel in dog sports like agility or flyball. If interested in adopting Crumpet you can complete an application on our website.
Lassie continues to heal well from her leg surgery, it’s been a long road…8 months! Here she is with Aggie having a round of zoomie playtime.
Dundee
Dundee is on his way to rescue! He is a youngster who is approximately 27 pounds and was on the E list at a Texas shelter. They say he's good with cats, loves other dogs, shows no aggression towards anything, loves people and he seems to be extremely young.
We will get to know more about him when he settles in at his foster home. However, in the meantime, if you would be interested in adopting Dundee, please complete an application on our website at www.swcsrescue.com
Lassie’s water therapy 💦
Lassie does 6-8 laps in the pool daily to strengthen her leg. She is doing well with her PT. Great job Lassie and thanks to Art for working with her!
Go Lassie Go! Here’s Lassie today running around the pool after she went swimming for a bit. Why is this a big deal you ask? Well Lassie came to us with a broken leg. Her foster dad Art has done a tremendous job with her physical therapy - if you notice most of the time she has 4 paws down on the ground. Great job Lassie and Art!! 🐾
Lassie had the surgery she required to repair the fracture in her front leg and is doing well, here she is checking out the yard with her fancy leg brace. She will be having a second surgery in about 6 weeks. Lassie and all of us at SWCSR want to thank all of you who donated to her care ~ we appreciate it so much! 💜🐾
Collie play date - Windsor (blue Merle) and Apollo (tri color) are two of the IL collies. Windsor was at Apollo’s house for a day of play, Windsor sure seems to come out of his shell with Apollo! Windsor is in a foster to adopt home, and Apollo has been adopted. Sure looks like the boys are having tons of fun along with the other dogs in the home.
