My website is rough...I'm not a professional web designer or social media guru and this is far from the creative writing style that I'm most comfortable with.

But this is something that I can do today. I can share a little bit of information that might make a difference to someone. I will continue to add to this information as my journey in ROA progresses.

If you need more customized information and a personalized walk through of how to get started, I offer in person (Phoenix area) and remote consultations.

I don't share on here nearly enough. Social media is often overwhelming for me and not something I truly enjoy navigating. I just want to garden, farm, grow healthy food for my community and help others do the same! But I also have to let you all know that I'm here somehow.

I can't accomplish what I hope to accomplish in the coming years without building that intentional community! Without putting myself out there more. Today is a day when so many of us, myself included just want to hide and probably angry cry. I'm not gonna do that today though, today I'm gonna put myself out there a bit more by saying this.

We are not helpless. We've been here before and we've overcome before. This is how we've always survived, by coming together, building those communities and leaning on the mutual aid of those around us. There's so much talk in homesteading and garden circles about self-sufficiency and being self-reliant. That's a myth we need to quickly dispell. We can't continue with this individualistic mindset, we have an obligation, a sacred duty to each member of our community to move in a way that is meaningful and mindful, to progress us forward.

I voted as I was called to, and I will continue to do the work that I am called to do. This is a Figeater beetle that my son Atlas is gently holding, in his little hands. They represent transformation, resilience and humility. Things we ought to embody and embrace moving forward. This is how I choose to fight, by building up my community and raising a generation of children with strength in their hands and the integrity to use it humbly.

I stayed making this candy all last summer!

My watermelon are sprouted up and I can't wait to make more batches of this SUPER sour deliciousness.

I suck at writing down recipes, but I can tell you I literally used the entire watermelon.

So however much juice you get from yours is how much you gotta useπŸ˜…πŸ€·πŸΎβ€β™€οΈ

I used a 1/2 cup of organic cane sugar and enough malic/citric acid to make me go πŸ€€πŸ€€πŸ€€πŸ˜–

For the sour sugar mixture, I really tested my limits... and it was glorious. So do what feels right, just don't burn off your tastebuds πŸ˜…

I think 2 cups of sugar to 1/2 cup of malic/citric acid (combined) might be close. But consult your own tongueπŸ€—

Have you heard of the alcohol intermediary method for making herbal infusions?

So far I've used it to make Hibiscus, Cilantro and Ginger infused oils!

Hibiscus oil is packed with antioxidants, and is associated with health benfits such as promoting weight loss, boosting liver function, and lowering blood pressure. Its also great for hair and skin.

Cilantro oil is also high in antioxidants and is great for ridding the body of toxins, due to its chelating properties. Studies also show that its natural sedative qualities can help to relieve anxiety and restlessness. Other benefits include reduced blood sugar levels, UTI prevention, skin soothing and so much more. (seriously, look it up)

Ginger...do I really have to list all the health benfits of ginger? You know its good medicine by now right?πŸ˜† Ginger Do It ALL!

As always, consult your healthcare team before trying any new herbal supplements.

This stuff is all over the yard! Gotta pull it up before those flower heads appear.

Stinknet is an invasive w**d that can crowd out native plants and becomes a fire hazard in summer. Right now, it's spreading in Maricopa, Pinal and Pima counties.

Learn what you can do to stop its spread at https://extension.arizona.edu/stinknet-invasion?publication=20240405&utm_campaign=University+of+Arizona+Cooperative+Extension&utm_content=Stinknet+is+an+invasive+w&utm_medium=social&utm_source=facebook.

Stinknet is sometimes called globe chamomile and is a member of the sunflower family and can grow more than 2 feet tall. It has carrot-like leaves and spherical yellow flower heads that have many tiny flowers. If you crush the leaves, it has a pungent, turpentine-like smell.

It's adapted to a wide variety of habitats including back yards, around desert fivers, urban sidewalk cracks and many other places. It grows through the winter and usually flowers between February and June.

Be careful when you remove stinknet, especially when it becomes dried out and full of seeds. Bag the w**d carefully to contain the seeds. Clean shoes, clothing and equipment that has come in contact with the plant.
