🐾 Dear Clients and Friends,

We’re thrilled to announce that our clinic and boarding facility are getting a fresh new look! We’re remodeling our floors, boarding runs, and care areas to make your pets’ visits even more comfortable, safe, and welcoming.

To complete this exciting renovation, we’ll be closed for all services and boarding from December 10 through December 15. We’ll reopen and be ready to welcome your companions again—just in time for the busy Christmas and New Year holiday season!

If your pet has upcoming medication refills, please plan to pick them up before December 10 or after we reopen to avoid any lapses in treatment.

During the remodel, our team will still be available by phone, email, and message for scheduling, follow-ups, or general questions. If you experience an emergency during our closure, please contact the Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine Emergency Clinic at 515-294-4900.

We truly appreciate your patience and support through this project. This remodel is a big step in our mission to provide an even better experience for you and your pets—cleaner, safer, and easier to maintain for the highest standards of care.

🐾 Introducing new patient, Buck! 💕

This precious little Pomeranian is just as sweet as he looks! 😍 Buck has been coming in to get his puppy vaccines booster-ed, and just turned old enough for his first rabies vaccine. We are happy to report that he was a very brave boy!💕

🐾Our second Pet of the Month Winner is Percy!🐈

"Percy was a stray that we picked up in Fairfield, Iowa roughly a year ago this month. We have boarded him twice at Companion Animal Clinic and they have done a spectacular job caring for him. Dr. Haban made a special point of asking if Percy was going to get time outside in the sun☀ Seems like an obvious request, but it was a first for me, and endearing. So, Percy has his own sunroom now! Next time we're going to send the "Bad Kitty Lounge" sign with him to the clinic when he boards!🤣"

🐾Meet one of September's Pets of the Month, Chloe!🐶

"Chloe turned 5 on August 3rd. She was adopted from the Story County Shelter on March 6th. She was found running around Nevada and went into the shelter with a serious skin and ear infection. Those initial health issues never held her back. She is so loveable. She loves people! She will stare at you until you make eye contact and manipulate you into a belly rub. She loves car rides, chasing bunnies, walks, and special adventures, i.e., a current parade and a trip to Reiman Gardens for Rovers at Reimans. But at the end of the day, when it's rest time, she will roll herself in a blanket or bury herself all the way to the bottom of the bed. She brings a lot of smiles and is much loved. "

🐶Riley is an almost 9 week old beagle pup that we already can't get enough of. This cutie came in today for her very first vet visit and did wonderfully! She was such a well behaved and brave girl, and we can't wait to watch her grow!🐾

💕Meet new patient, Elleanor!🐶

This certified cutie pie came to see us today to be treated for roundworms! 🪱
🐾 Found commonly in dogs, roundworms are a type of internal parasite that infect a dog's intenstines. Thankfully, Elleanor has started treatment to get rid of these pesky parasites!

Puppies can become infected with roundworms from their mother — both before they are born and while nursing. Dogs can also get infected with roundworms by either ingesting the parasite’s eggs (from feces-contaminated soil and other contaminated objects), or by eating a rodent that is already infected with roundworms.

Infected dogs shed roundworm eggs through their stool. Larvae develop inside the eggs 2-4 weeks later, making them infectious to another dog.

After ingestion, roundworm larvae migrate through the walls of the intestines, liver and lungs. Larvae are then coughed up from the lungs, swallowed and finally grow into adult roundworms that live in the dog’s intestines.

"Born 4.24.25 Quinn (Yellow) and Oakley(Black) are growing fast! They love to wrestle and fight each other and then cuddle up to sleep. We are now best friends with every kid in our neighborhood. They stop by all the time to see them and play with them!! It’s the best thing ever! We wouldn’t have survived until now without them!!"
