Meet Deanna, a BCBA and LBA here at AACT!

Deanna has been working with AACT for over three years in varying positions, such as RBT, Supervisor, and now BCBA. Deanna shared with us her favorite memory, stating, "My favorite memory at AACT was when I was working as an RBT for an older client. She was so nervous to order at stores/restaurants and I would go to Starbucks every session with her to play uno. One day she ended up ordering herself and she turned to me and was so excited!"

Reflecting back on 2022, we already cannot wait for what 2023 has in store for us!

Let's start this new year off right by highlighting one of our fantastic BCBAs here at AACT!

Chanel is new to us, but she shared with us that, "I kind of stumbled into the field of ABA thanks to my love of human behavior. After my bachelor’s degree, I decided to do a certificate program at ASU before starting a master’s program. ABA was the one that I chose, not knowing exactly what it was. After my first semester, I fell in love with the field and decided to transition from a certificate program to a master’s program. I realized how big of an impact I could make with these skills and knowledge. After working in the field for a few years, I ended up getting an autism diagnosis of my own. It not only gave me insight about myself, but it has also given me a unique perspective on how to approach ABA techniques and immerse myself into the autism community to further help our clients. Being an autistic BCBA and advanced certified autism specialist (ACAS) is something that I am incredibly proud of. I believe that I stumbled into this field for a reason and am so grateful that I did."

In short, AACT is lucky to have a BCBA with such a unique perspective on our team. We are so happy to have you Chanel!

Our final Employee Spotlight for the year goes to Matt. The family that Matt works with stated that, "Matt has changed my son's life. Every time Matt comes over, my child lights up and is so happy. Matt is so patient with him and listens so patiently. He cares about what my child has to say and my child can feel he is cared about. Matt has been great about kindly holding boundaries with him and helping him understand why he is working on a goal. Matt goes above and beyond to help our family and always advocates for my child's needs. He is by far the best ABA provider we have ever had!"

When asked why he does this job, Matt stated, "I love watching the kids learn new skills and watching the confidence and happiness in both the kids and the parents grow."

2022 is slowly coming to an end and we are truly enjoying the last month of this year. December is passing us by, and before you know it we will be celebrating this holiday season with our families. What are your holiday plans this year?
