Meet Luna! Luna was rescued over the holidays and has found a great home. She was brought in due to hair loss and being itchy. Dr. Lynde took a small skin scraping sample and looked at it under the microscope. He found Demodex mites! Demodex is a fairly common mite found in dogs and doesn't always cause hair loss or itchiness. These mites live inside the hair follicle. But the good news is they are easily treatable and not contagious to humans!

We would like you to meet Odin! One evening in October Odin's owner went to let him inside from the front yard (Devils Tower area) and he was being attacked by a mountain lion. Thankfully the lion dropped him when the owner hollered. He was brought in to see our emergency veterinarian. X-rays were taken of his skull and it was found that the left orbital bone was fractured and the eye was damaged beyond repair. Odin was very lucky that his skull wasn't completely crushed. Once he was stable we surgically removed the damaged eye and he was soon released to go home. We are happy to report that Odin is fully recovered and doing well! His owner states that he is "Back to his cheery loving self!"

Join us in saying a tearful goodbye to our dear friend and co-worker, Dr. Brad Powell, who moved to Texas to continue caring for equine patients and to be with his loving family. Dr. Powell has touched many lives, human and animal, throughout his 20 years at Animal Medical Center. We will never forget the impact you made on all of our lives.
