“Be Addicted To Your Dreams”

📚 A Thought for Our Equine Families 🐴

Every generation says, “Kids sure have changed”—and they’re right. The world our youth are growing up in is different from the one we knew. As mentors, parents, and coaches, we’re not just teaching rodeo skills—we’re building character in a culture that’s been rewired.

I recently came across The Anxious Generation by Jonathan Haidt, and it’s full of powerful insights into how technology has shaped today’s youth. If you’re raising or mentoring kids, I encourage you to read or listen to it—or even check out a podcast episode. It’s eye-opening, and it’s helping me think more deeply about how we connect, instruct, and support.

At Arthun Equine, we believe in distraction-free practice, real connection, and the kind of grit that can’t be downloaded. Let’s keep building that together.

Every Buckle Has a Story.

I haven’t won a ton of buckles in my roping career, which makes each one feel extra special. This past weekend, I had the honor of winning a buckle with Ster Thrush at the Plains Area Corriente Association Members Roping—and I’ll be holding onto the memory for a long time.

Every win should be celebrated. Every buckle deserves gratitude.

Thank you to the PACA crew for putting on a great roping and giving us the chance to chase moments like this. I’m proud of this one.

“If that leather is too comfortable, horses get used to bracing against it. They’ll get stiff in their shoulders and start stopping on their front ends or taking jerks on their front ends. Then they get sore from the way they’re taking jerks or logging a steer’s weight.”

Do rope horses really need tie-downs?

You want every little advantage when the money’s up. So why not tweak your headgear until it helps your horse perform its absolute best?
