For The Love Of Dogs

For The Love Of Dogs Fighting for no kill shelters Having recently semi retired, and believing everyone should have a cause. They just don't have a clue what is going on out there .

I took my networking of posting dogs looking for forever homes to a new level. Dogs on the move seemed like a good movements as high kill shelters just don’t seem to be move dogs out . As I surf the web URGENT keeps coming up I would post and pray for someone to adopt , now I am a bundle of nerves trying to decide what direction to go in ! Millions of dogs are being put to death the chances of bei

ng adopted are so slim and the cruel treatment in city and state shelters is going unnoticed, Dogs being hung by their leashes in kennels sedatives not being used before death . The no kill shelters don’t seem to do much better with over crowding . I know long term answer is SPAY/NEUTER but short term I think we need to get network tv involved Americans love their dogs !!!

UPDATE: 3:02 PM 9/5/25: Animal Services is no longer at high capacity for cats and will resume normal operations. Thank you to Nevada Humane Society and SPCA of Northern Nevada for all of your help!

UPDATE 9/4/2025 3:28pm: Roughly 90% of the cats were relinquished to WCRAS by the owners. Although we are still at capacity, this means that we can begin working on transferring the cats to adoption partners to get them into new homes.

Attention to our community!! Animal Services seized 101 cats today from a residence and the shelter cat capacity is FULL. These 101 cats are in addition to what we already had in the shelter. We are ensuring each cat is being properly examined and processed into the shelter.
We need your help:
-For now, we will not be able to accept any new, healthy cats that are brought to us.
-Cats are free-roaming animals, so unless they are in sick or injured or have bitten someone, please leave them be. We do not have open cages to accommodate new, healthy cats.
- If you are missing a cat, please look here every day, multiple times per day. You can look online for a missing animal or physically come to our facility. washoeanimals.com/lost
- If you have found a cat, please utilize our microchip scanning stations to help reunite a lost pet. www.helpingpetshome.com
- Please do not trap cats to bring to Animal Services during this time.
Thank you for your understanding and patience with us while we work through this challenging situation. We will update this post as we know more.
