The light is shining down on “Justine” and her owner this morning.

This dog was very close to Euthanasia because of her fear aggression and behaviors. The owner was committed to helping her and we sensed that so we gave commitment. Making a custom program for her through daycare we were able to do our first Lesson today with the owner showing him all her progress! She was one of the worst fear agressive cases Jordan has worked with. She has turned around and is doing well!

Overdose of cuteness! Thank you kiddos for playing with the new recruits. These experiences for the pups are invaluable. The Gilman School District has been so accommodating and going out of their way to help these future detection dogs be successful at keeping our great USA safe. 🇺🇸 This weekend we are picking up eight new pups and will be sure to bring them in to see you soon!

Opie Has Been Re-Homed!

We want to extend a big thank you to everyone who inquired about Opie and supported HCK and the V***r Wake®️ candidates. We received an overwhelming amount of interest in adopting Opie, and we’re excited to share that he has found his forever home!

For those still interested in adopting a pup, we encourage you to check out the adoption page and get on the list for future pups. We’ve received numerous questions about the pups and the adoption process, and we’d love to clear up some common queries:

Why do some pups “wash out” of the detection program?

The screening process for the V***r Wake®️ candidates is highly selective, as we are looking for that special “X” factor. The pups we develop come from some of the best genetics in the U.S., often from upland or waterfowl backgrounds.

So why do some pups wash out? Simply put, it’s because they lack hardness and courage—traits that are essential for the specialized detection work we require. If you’re curious about what that means, feel free to reach out to us, and we’d be happy to explain in more detail.
