Happy Friday everyone!!!! We are excited to be able to announce that starting this Saturday we will start offering bread from Provision Farm / provision_farm_sourdough_ on Saturdays ONLY!! This is absolutely the BEST bread around, baked right across the square. It doesn’t get anymore LOCAL than that!!!

Good Sunday morning yall...some exciting things are happening in Gilmer! We are SO excited to welcome Provision Farm / provision_farm_sourdough_ to the downtown square! They will be opening the doors into their new building (the old Giovanni's in downtown Gilmer) on Tuesday, March 18th. This will be THE place for fresh sourdough bread, cookies, a cup of coffee, and more! You may even see some Steel Mill Farms beef in there 😉.

THIS is what America needs yall! Small communities taking a more active role in their food and coming together with a common God-centered mission. We sat down with Eric & Stacy the other night in their new store and could not be more happy for them. AND...Steel Mill Farms & Provision Farm hopes to have some exciting things we can bring to y'all in the near future!!!

Check out our NEW fully cooked brisket (sliced or chopped). This is a FULLY COOKED brisket option made with Steel Mill Farms beef that is great for a hassle-free meal. Softball game, baseball practice, track meet….no problem! Just warm it up (or not) and you’re good to go.

Because this is a new product we are hoping to offer, we want to know what YOU THINK!! So, for today only (3/14) the FIRST TWO CUSTOMERS to come in the store and mention this post to Jessica will get their choice of 1lb of chopped or sliced brisket completely on us!! This week one of our owners, Michael and his wife, Elizabeth, attended the Western Veterinary Conference in Las Vegas. Part of their attendance included 3 seminars directly related to beef production. Topics discussed included animal welfare, challenges for the beef industry in the current economic climate, improving husbandry practices, and providing value, sustainability, and healthier products to our Steel Mill Farms Family.

At Steel Mill Farms we are MORE than just a beef producer. We are a family dedicated to ensure that everything that leaves our farm is a blessing to our community. Good morning East Texas! I spoke recently about the importance of the quality of food that we put in our bodies AND supporting local food producers….as a community it is important that we start looking at food, food production, and local food security differently!

It’s days like today that remind me of how much work & sacrifice goes into the food that we consume. We go by the store and grab this or grab that, and rarely pause to think of the work that went into it.

This is even MORE true when you are buying from a local farm. The waterers are frozen, the fence needs fixing, we need to put out hay, there’s a cow out….oh yeah, and it’s cold and rainy!!!!

We are so thankful to Clint & his son Colton for doing some necessary work around the farm today in not so pleasant weather!!! THANK YALL!!!!!
