Nugget started therapy visits last week and today at Christus Good Shepherd. I am so proud of this sweet pup for bringing lots of love to patients, families, and staff at the hospital.

Nugget has been an ATD Therapy Dog for about 1 year but we had to complete this class at PetsMart as a prerequisite to joining a therapy dog team at one of the local hospitals. I can’t wait to see her bring smiles to patients, staff, and families in the hospital setting.

Nugget went to Vacation Bible School The Church At West Mountain. She absolutely LOVES visiting with and loving on the children!

This little girl showed some serious LOVE today! She encountered a young lady who was extremely upset and struggling with some big issues. Nugget ran straight to her, laid down ON her feet, and was adamant about staying there close to her.

She knew that this young lady needed support and as always she jumped into action.

Today’s therapy visit at Highland Pines Nursing and Rehab in Longview. Nugget really connected with one resident in particular. She laid down on her feet and provided unconditional love and comfort to her.

This sweet girl spent her afternoon bringing smiles and love to the residents at Focused Care in Gilmer yesterday.

We get to hear lots of life stories as we visit and we met a gentleman yesterday who didn’t have any visitors or see any family for Christmas. The highlight of his Christmas was that the people at ETEX sponsored them and gave him the only gifts that he received. Don’t forget how blessed you are. This man didn’t seem sad at all but was grateful for what he had been given.

My sweet friend Terry Kerns wrote this poem about Nugget. She has received lots from of love from Nug and watched her grow from a puppy to a full grown certified therapy dog.

We watched her grow
From a small pup.
Her hair so golden red,
Her eyes a deep dark brown.
A beautiful, fine specimen
How blessed is her life.

She worked hard to learn her craft.
Helping people reset their hearts.
Showing unconditional love
Acceptance.
Calmness.
Vulnerability in her posture.

It is as if she takes the stress
And it disappears.
Oh that we might love
The way Nugget loves.

I got to watch this puppy do an amazing work yesterday. Nugget typically would go say Hi and get some pets when someone comes in and then she goes on about her way. Not today!!

My friend came into the center stressed, with a headache, and high blood pressure. Nugget went to say Hi and get her usual pets but the meeting quickly turned into an unusual display of attention and affection being given to my friend. Nugget instantly started sniffing all over her legs, hands, and arms. Nugget was pretty persistent and this picture is how it ended.

Therapy dogs can pick up on people’s physical and emotional state then respond with gentleness and love to help the person to feel better. ❤️ ❤️ ❤️

Pet Therapy can be comforting for many people struggling with fear, anxiety, or depression. Nugget doesn’t have much fear and she is always ready to give out her love.

10 months of training paid off today. I am so proud of this hard working pup! She passed her AKC Canine Good Citizen Test.
