Is anyone else finding this clown scenario sadly humorous? š¤”
First photo is our local Sprouts store from last week. The Next 3 photos are mine. A representation of every local farmers bounty of... EGGS they have right now.
āItās a very local industry,ā no s**t? We are bringing eggs in from Brazil, Turkey, Argentina, when there are local farmers rolling in eggs right now.
Yet here we are trying to fix a problem, that was, once again created for monetization gain .
"US provides $72M to vaccine manufacturers to advance bird flu shot preparedness" - interesting since small government jobs are being cut across the board to save us from a "deficit".
Wouldn't this be a much better way to cut spending? Creating a "cure" for something that can come from natural immunity seems like a huge waste of government spending but I'm sure Pfizer & Moderna would disagree, as well as the politicians whose pockets are lined with their contributions.
Bird flu. Birds are dying at the hands of US Department of Agriculture culls, not because they can't survive a virus. Most of these birds are asymptomatic = not showing signs of illness.
I have taken an "only the strong survive" approach to our food raising & it continues to grow healthier & stronger each year. š¤·āāļø Whodathunkit
Now, the US Department of Agriculture is supporting a rise in IMPORTS to bring egg prices down. š¤£ Cat calling the kettle black maybe?
I really hope any country who chooses to sell to us, imparts a 20-25% tariff on those eggs. It's only fair, right? š
Sadly, the easiest answer would be for CONSUMERS to step up, change the way they shop, & support local economy, community, & farmers who have PLENTY of eggs untouched by tariffs or subsidies that makes the prices seem cheaper than they are. Untouched by fuels, factories & environmental impact from long haul importations.
Small farms CAN feed their communities, without big governmental bandaids that always cause a trickle effect of more issues but it takes understanding that eggs should never be abnormally cheap, nor should chicken.
When are we going to learn to support local, seasonal foods without a toxic footprint in political chess games?
Grow your own food. Know your farmers. Buy local eggs.
