First Junior Handler

Our 9-year-old granddaughter ran our 10-year-old Dixie in the Junior stake at the hunt test hosted by the Labrador Retriever Club of the Potomac and the pair got their first pass together. We thought the team of Leah and Dixie did a great job together. This was Leah's first experience handling at a hunt test, and she was so excited with the overall experience. Our Tuesday training group has been so kind and supportive to allow Leah and Dixie to practice together during our group sessions and we can't thank them enough. We thank God for this wonderful blessing and pray that the pair can continue to develop together as a team. Our many thanks to the club, the judges, the workers, and the landowners, it was a great event. We have a litter of puppies on the ground that are one-week old and the biggest reward for Leah was being able to come over and spend time with the puppies after the event.

FC AFC Rex x MHR-I Georgie MH Litter Has Arrived

The puppies were born on 8/31/2024 and both Georgie and the puppies are doing well. We thank God for the blessing of these beautiful new puppies, and for taking care of Georgie through the delivery. We have seven puppies and five are still available. Our preference is to place the puppies in competition or working homes if possible. We have two black males, one yellow male, one black female, and one dark yellow female available at this time.

This is a three-peat breeding, and we have received very positive feedback on the puppies from the first two litters. This is Georgie's last litter, and she is doing a great job with the puppies.

FC AFC Rex x MHR-I Georgie MH Three-Peat Breeding

We are excited to announce a three-peat breeding between FC AFC Indigo Rev It Up At Shoreline - Rex and MHR-I Shore Thing Labs Sweet Georgia Peach MH - Georgie. A sonogram confirmed that Georgie has puppies on board. The due date is 9/1/2024 and puppies would be ready to leave on about 10/20/2024. There should be both black and yellow (possible Fox Red) colors in the litter. It appears to be a small litter and we are taking a limited number of reservations now.

Rex is owned by Linda Berkeley-Weiss. Rex is a 7-year-old 70 lb. yellow factored black male with 44.5 all age points. He has been a successful sire having produced offspring with competitive results. He is a beautiful dog that is very fast and exciting in the field and has a great temperament and friendly personality.

Georgie is a 6-year-old 60 lb. Fox Red yellow female who has master level hunt test titles from both NAHRA and AKC. She was an excellent mother with her first two litters. She is compact, very muscular, and extremely fast in the field. She is very bold and tenacious in the field and also has a super sweet personality.

Rex has good hips and Georgie has excellent hips. Both Rex and Georgie have normal elbows, eyes, EIC, CNM, PRA, OSD, D Locus, Stargardt, etc. Both are very athletic and good looking.

We have received very positive feedback from owners from the first two litters. Three of the puppies from the first litter are expected to run in Derbies this coming fall and one of the puppies from the second litter earned his AKC JH title at 8-months of age.

A wonderful breeding has just been confirmed by our dear friends at Can Do Kennels. Sophie is from our March 2020 litter and holds a special place in our hearts. Yella is just a fantastic dog with a super bright future ahead. We are very excited about this litter!

The Magnificent Half Dozen Are Four Weeks Old

The puppies were four weeks old on 12/1/2023. They are getting big and doing well. They have moved into their play yard which has already been expanded to give them more room. They are eating kibble three times a day now and are slowly being weaned off momma's milk. They are doing well sleeping through the night. After a cold snap and then several rainy days, they got their first trip outside yesterday. The puppies in the first six pictures:

We are so thankful for Rex x Georgie Magnificent Half Dozen

It was a very special Thanksgiving for us yesterday here at home with Georgie and her six puppies. The puppies in the photos are:

As you can see in the photos, the puppies have their eyes open and moving around now on all four legs. They will be transitioning out of their whelping box to a play yard in the next couple of days. They all have teeth coming in so they will be starting on some mushy kibble in the next couple of days as well. It is very exciting to see them changing every day.

FC AFC Rex x MHR-I Georgie MH Repeat Breeding Litter is a Little Over One Week Old

The puppies are now a little over one week old. Each of the puppies doubled their weight in the first week. Georgie is doing a great job taking care of the puppies. We are looking forward to them opening their eyes and getting up on their feet later this week. Right now, they are getting better and better at the army crawl. They can get to their mom quickly when she get in the box.

The puppies were born on 11/3/2023. The litter was smaller than expected with only six puppies (three black males, two yellow females, and one black female). All the puppies are already reserved. FC AFC Indigo Rev It Up At Shoreline – Rex owned by Linda Berkeley-Weiss was bred again with MHR-I Shore Thing Labs Sweet Georgia Peach MH – Georgie on 9/5/23. A sonogram on 10/5/2023 confirmed a successful breeding and showed approximately 8 puppies in the litter. The puppies are due in early November and will be ready to go in late December. Puppies could be ready to work for the 24 – 25 hunting season and would have an ideal Derby birthday. Rex earned his FC and AFC titles in 2022, has two wins and additional placements and finishes in 2023, and is qualified for the 2023 National Open and the 2024 National Amateur. Georgie and Willow Qualify at 2023 NAHRA Invitational

All three of our girls qualified to participate in the 2023 NAHRA Invitational held in Cranesville, PA. Being new to NAHRA hunt tests, we were very honored to be able to participate in this annual national event. Dixie was actually the first dog to drop out of the event when she really struggled on a long flyer in the first series. She was able to come up with the second bird but then had to be picked up on the third bird. Willow was our second dog to run in the first series and actually did a somersault at a full run going for the same long flyer. Somehow she got re-oriented and was clean on all three birds. Georgie and Willow got through the first two series on day one and then the next two series on day two. There was just the final series left on day three. Georgie was actually the very last dog to run in the final series. Once the scoring was totaled up by the three judges, we were thrilled that both Georgie and Willow ended up qualifying in their first NAHRA Invitational event. This gave Georgie enough points to earn her NAHRA MHR title to go along with her AKC MH title. We thank God for this wonderful opportunity and for keeping all the participants safe. Our thanks also to the landowner, the judges, the workers, and to all of our training partners. We got to train and know NAHRA family members from Alaska, Canada, Vermont, New York, Minnesota, Iowa, Pennsylvania, and more. We are so thankful at how welcome everyone made us feel. Willow Earns a Qualifying Score at Keystone

Willow ran by herself (Dixie and Georgie stayed home) in the master stake at the Keystone Retriever Club June 2023 Hunt Test in Elkton, MD this past weekend. She earned her third qualifying score in a master hunt test. She has been running in NAHRA hunt tests this spring and has not run in an AKC hunt test since last fall so we were pleased to see that she was able to adjust and still do well enough to earn a qualifying score. Willow is from our November 2020 Whistler x Dixie litter and it was very exciting for us to see her sister Sophie from our March 2020 Whistler x Dixie litter also earn a qualifying score in the master stake at the same test. Sophie is owned by our uncle and aunt, Mike and Helen Katinas and trained and handled by Tim Mumford of Can Do Kennels. We thank God for keeping everyone safe this past weekend and for this wonderful opportunity to fellowship with so many great folks and see such great dog work. We also thank the land owners, the judges, the workers, and the Keystone Retriever Club for hosting such a well organized event. Also we thank all our training partners who have and continue to help us develop and grow.

Belated Happy Mother's Day to All the Mother's Who Follow Us On Facebook

We hope everyone had a great Mother's Day weekend. We were very blessed to be able to attend the Navesink River Retriever Club NAHRA hunt test over Mother's Day weekend. The girls ran on Saturday and then we were able to be home to spend time with our daughter and her family on Mother's Day. We are proud of the girls as they all earned qualifying scores in a challenging test. Willow completed the requirements for her NAHRA MHR title and as a result became eligible for the 2023 NAHRA invitational. Dixie and Georgie both need one more pass to earn a NAHRA MHR title. We spent time practicing for the upland series and Georgie who has had difficulty with being steady on the flush did a really good job. Of the seven dogs that passed on Saturday, six were from the Eastern Shore Retriever Club. We feel very privileged to be part of that group. We thank God for another great and safe weekend. We also thank the judges, the club, and the workers for putting together a great event. Special shout out to the Eastern Shore Retriever Club and our old training group at Can Do Kennels.

Shore Thing Girls Run At Their 2nd NAHRA Senior Hunt Test

The girls ran in the Senior stake at the Eastern Shore Retriever Club Spring 2023 NAHRA Hunt test in Onancock, VA. Members of the Eastern Shore Retriever Club have introduced us to NAHRA hunt tests and have helped us tremendously with preparing for these tests that present very realistic hunting scenarios. We are selecting our 9-year old Dixie girl with the MVP award for this weekend. We left Dixie home on Friday but took her on Saturday and Sunday. She not only earned qualifying scores both days but she helped steady the other two girls who both ran into problems on Friday. Willow went self-employed on her land blind after a fantastic start in both the water series and on her land marks so we lost Willow in the land series on Friday. Georgie ran all the series on Friday but ran into some bad luck with the upland series when the pigeon flew right at her. She jumped up and down several times before sitting so she got dropped for not being steady on the flush. Dixie and Georgie are now qualified for the 2023 NAHRA Invitational. Willow still needs one more qualifying score in a NAHRA senior test. We have our fingers crossed. We thank God for another safe and fun weekend. We also thank the Eastern Shore Retriever Club, the judges, and workers. We are looking forward to running in additional NAHRA tests.

Shore Thing Girls' First NAHRA Senior Test

Dixie, Georgie, and Willow all ran their first NAHRA Senior hunt test this past weekend. The test was in Heidlersburg, PA and was hosted by the Northern Piedmont Retriever Club. The girls ran in the tests on Saturday and Sunday. In the past, the girls have primarily run in AKC hunt tests. Based on just this one experience, we found the NAHRA hunt test to have more realistic hunting scenarios than those we have been presented in the AKC hunt tests. The NAHRA test includes a land series and water series but in place of the land/water series are upland and trail series (a total of four series). Georgie and Willow really love the upland series. Dixie likes it but is much more methodical in her approach to finding a bird to flush in the upland series. For this test we are awarding third place to Georgie who crashed in the first series on Saturday but qualified on Sunday, second place to Dixie who qualified on Saturday and ran all fours series on Sunday picking up all her birds but came up short on points and first place to the youngster Willow who qualified on both Saturday and Sunday. We want to first thank God for this wonderful opportunity and for keeping us all safe, we want to also thank the Northern Piedmont Retriever Club for hosting such a great event and thank all the judges and workers and send out a special thank you to Larry Housman who introduced us to the NAHRA tests and helped us train and prepare for the test. FC AFC Indigo Rev It Up At Shoreline - Rex x Shore Thing Labs Sweet Georgia Peach MH Litter - Puppies All Reserved

The puppies turned four weeks old yesterday and both Georgie and the puppies are doing well. All the puppies have been reserved. There was a good deal of interest in this litter and we are blessed to have found great placements for each of the puppies. More than half of the puppies are going to competition homes in several different parts of the country and we are looking forward to updates on their progress. We have had inquires as to whether or not we are planning a repeat of this breeding. If we get positive feedback on the puppies, we do plan to pursue a repeat of this breeding likely in late 2023 or early 2024 as Georgie only comes into season once each year. The Rex x Georgie litter arrived on 1/31/2023. There are nine puppies in the litter, two yellow females, one black female, one yellow male and five black males. Dixie and Willow Earn Qualifying Scores at Del Bay Hunt Test

All three of our girls ran in the master hunter stake at the Del Bay Retriever Club Fall 2022 hunt test at Rebel Ridge Farms in Elkton, MD. All the girls ran in all three series which is an accomplishment in itself. Georgie ran well all weekend but failed due to her inability to keep her butt on the ground while on honor. It was disappointing but not too surprising for Georgie given the setup for the honor in this test. This is definitely a weakness for her that we need to work on very hard over the winter. Willow caught a lucky break because she actually broke as the working dog before being released for a very exciting flyer. There are two judges and one of them determined that the break was induced by the honor dog and the other judge didn't realize that the honor dog had broken. Apparently many in the gallery had it scored as a simultaneous break. There is no instant replay in hunts tests at this time and so the decision was made to give Willow a rerun and she made the most of it and made it through the last series to earn her second qualifying score at a master hunter test before turning two years old. As was the case at her last test, Willow was again the youngest dog to earn a qualifying score at this test and was our only girl to be clean on the triple marks in every series and lined her blind in the first series. Dixie was steady in each series but was in a position where she had to be clean on all of her marks in the third series having been handled once in each of the first two series. She managed to pull it through and earned her eighth qualifying score at a master hunt test. We are so thankful to God for keeping us all safe and for these wonderful dogs and wonderful sport. Willow Earns Derby Jam Ribbon

Willow had an opportunity to run in one Field Trial Derby before turning 2-years old. She ran in the Derby stake at the Women's Field Trial Club Fall 2022 Trial. She made it through all four series, picked up all her birds, and earned a Derby Jam ribbon. We were proud of her effort especially because she has not trained for the longer marks that were presented to her in each series. She showed that she has the aptitude to be able to at least train for trial events. We thank God as always for keeping everyone safe and providing us with such a wonderful dog and experience. Our thanks also go to the Women's Field Trial Club, the judges, the landowners, and especially to our wonderful trainers Tim and Janel Mumford of Can Do Kennels in Selbyville, DE and our training group.
