Important reminder!!!!!!

Making sure your dog is vaccinated against Leptospirosis is just as important, if not more important, as reducing exposure.

We have seen it. Fortunately here, we don't see it nearly as much as some clinics do, because all of our vaccines include lepto, unless the owner has specifically declined it.
A lot of clinics have gone to 3 year distemper/parvo vaccines that don't include the lepto vaccine. But that's also why we haven't done that, so that we can make sure all dogs and pups are fully protected as best as we can get.

Lepto can cause liver failure and is also transmissible to people.

It starts with vague symptoms such as vomiting, lethargic, and can rapidly go downhill from there.

If you have any questions on whether your pup is fully vaccinated, don't hesitate to reach out by email or phone. We are happy to help!

Make sure if your pets are scared of fireworks, you call in now for an anxiety prescription for them! Please don't wait until the day before.
Also, make sure your animal is microchipped and tags, both with current information.

They are up to date on vaccines, have had dental cleanings, are spayed/neutered and are microchipped!

🐶🐕November is National Senior Pet Month!🐱🐈

We love celebrating our older fur-friends that have been through so much with their owners! 😻
We will be sharing tips and information throughout the month to help your senior pup live out their best life ever!

With our pets living longer than ever before we need to watch for some of the subtle signs of aging.
From cognitive support to joint health, there are so many ways to help older pets live a quality of life that matches the quantity of years.

The natural decline in health occurs at varying ages, so it’s also important to consider the size and breed of your pet. For example, large/giant breed dogs age quickly & have a shorter life span, so a six-year-old Great Dane can be considered an elderly dog. On the other hand, cats and small-breed dogs can easily live into their teens (or even into their early twenties) in today’s environment, so a Maltese may enter its geriatric years in its mid-teens.

PHYSICAL SIGNS OF AGING IN CATS & DOGS:

🐾Graying eyes & muzzle

🐾Stiffness in movement

🐾Lack of endurance

In addition to the physical symptoms of growing old, cognitive function begins to decline.

EIGHT COGNITIVE SIGNS OF AGING IN CATS & DOGS:

🐾Forgetfulness

🐾Inappropriate vocalization

🐾Disruption of wake/sleep cycles or rhythms

🐾Difficulty sleeping altogether

🐾Increased anxiety, phobias, and fears

🐾Increased agitation

🐾Hearing loss

🐾Disorientation (For example, your older pet may get “stuck” in corners, seemingly unable to figure his way out)

Happy Vet Tech Week to our OG Tech, Sara ❤️
Sara has been a Tech for 25 years and still absolutely loves what she does. She regularly tells people that she has her dream job (and we LOVE having her!)

In her spare time, she loves hanging out with her dogs, cats, chickens, and rats.

Malea is one of our Registered Veterinary Technicians that graduated in 2021. Before she was taking care of your furry friends medically, she was our kennel technician and took care of the boarding animals.
Maleas favorite part of her job is surgery❤️
In her down time, she enjoys hanging out with her 2 dogs, Myles and Tatum, and going to different events around the city.

We are so happy to have Malea here and love having her be a part of the team!
