I’m starting this fund raiser to help the owners of an amazing dog, Umbra who I bred, cared for and loved so incredibly much!! My heart is so broken and these wonderful people who got this beautiful puppy did so much for him loving him, caring for him and doing everything in their power to try and save him. The money that they put into him, hoping, praying for him to survive was so much just to still loose him anyway. The loss has been so unbearable not only to them but their family and to me. The overwhelming emotions, sadness and feeling of dispair with not having your family member, one they loved so much and to know that this huge bill could not even save him. They knew they did everything in their power and no amount of money could have helped but they tried. I visually saw how much time, energy, money, love and ultimate care that is so high because they loved him so much. Now they lost their family member, their friend, their shadow to be left with things that were his, empty rooms, constant reminder and a bill to try and save his life. The emptyness of what they feel and what I feel. It’s heartbreaking. Please help them. They deserve the help as they did everything they could for him. Even a little helps. They are great people who loved their dog and did everything they could and to still not have their sweet boy who was loving, kind, excitable, happy even til the very end wagging his tail because his family was by his side. I got to say goodbye to him as they called me always to keep me informed and I was able to see him and care for him too. The bond was so great!! We will miss you always Umbra. RIP sweet boy, until we meet again.

Backstory and info on this beautiful soul. Umbra was a black German shepherd that came into this world on June 24, 2022 and heartbreakingly left on May 6, 2024. His owners, Michael and Sharmila did everything they could to save this wonderful dog, in doing so they now have a massive vet bill that I would like to help them with.

Umbra was the most friendliest, loving dog from the time he was a puppy. I was the breeder and I could see that this little boy was very special. When he was 4 months old, Michael and Sharmila became his owners and named him “Umbra” and in these 19 months the love of umbra bonded us as friends/family. Umbra had a way of connecting people. They absolutely adored him and Michael always called him “Umby”. Having a Working Line German shepherd is no small task, but they were always there for him with training, food, medical, play and most importantly love. Both went above and beyond in his care.

Umbra had a sweet disposition, he loved everyone and everyone loved him, he was such a “happy-go-lucky” dog. He loved playtime especially, he had many toys but his two favorites were his rubber bone chew toy, and his his yellow ball.

On Thursday May 2, he had to go to the emergency room having trouble breathing. 2 days before Sharmila was told from one vet that he had allergies. Umbra was then admitted early Friday morning. Later that day the vet called and said he had Pyothorax, which is the filling of the chest cavity with fluid caused by a foreign object. The emergency vet said that he needed a chest tube to drain the fluid. That night they said he was doing ok. The promise of hope that he can make it thru this. On Saturday morning, the vet called saying that he needed surgery and it was the only option to save his life. We kept hoping and praying but it a serious one. They opened his chest cavity and took out any tissue with the infection. Sunday morning, the hospital said that his chest was still producing fluid but at night they said he seemed to be doing ok. On Monday, the doctor called and said he was producing about a liter in the last day and things were not looking good. Monday late afternoon, the swelling was out of control and had very little chance of survival. At that point Michael and Sharmila made the heartbreaking decision to say goodbye and I got to say goodbye loving him and kissing him.

Even in his last few minutes of life his beautiful personality shined through even with all the pain he was in. When he walked in he started giving kisses and wagging his tail. He went peacefully, everyone was devastated and broken. Pain is indescribable. Life is so unfair. Taken away too soon, too young on a sweet boy who offered so much!!

Umbra was so loved by his owners that they spared no expense with his care and are completely devastated. It didnt seem real that a 1 1/2 year old could get so sick from a foreign object but have no answers to what foreign object. Having no answers, high bill and not have your beautiful dog is mind blowing, heart breaking, words can't describe the emotions. Even though Umbra died he left paw prints on everyones hearts that will last a lifetime. RIP sweet Umbra!! We love you so so much!!

It has been an unreal past week starting with my father going by ambulance to the hospital and then put in the Intensive Care Unit, not even a full day goes by and I am at Manchester Hospital Emergency for an incredible ordeal life changing event that I am now still recovering, pain unimaginable and despair and need to recover from. I have a long road ahead. Knowing that I could not reach out to my father in intensive care and have any drs or nurses tell him what was happening to me. The pain has been intense but worrying about my dad too. Then to top it off, my mother in hospital next day (same hospital) and my second dad having surgery next week who is also in pain. My mind is racing caring about my family but having the unbearable pain, no energy and this tragic event taking everything I have and couldn’t even help them. I left it in Gods hands praying my father comes out of intensive care, my pain and recovery get better, my mom gets better and my second dad stop being in pain and having his surgery. I know God only gives us what we can handle. And I’m handling but I’m mentally, physically drained and I keep trying. I do trust in the Lord and will continue to have my life in his hands. I do want to thank all my family and friends being there for me and still being there for me. Starting off with Mark Sawyer, Esther Cote, Nicky Chalifoux and Rick, Stella Johnson Tuttle, Barry Tuttle, Matthew Tuttle, Trish Daniewicz, Karen Bauer, Cathy LeMay, Todd Mona, Jacob Kinnen, Amy Costa, Angela Aiello Sousa, Jack of Linda’s Critter Sitters and Ralph Doyer. The support and continue support has been so amazing. Thank you from bottom of my heart. More potential procedures to come but having the support makes me feel like I can tackle this and the prayers for my family as well to be ok. Please pray for our family. There is definitely a lot.
