One of our technicians, Allison who I’m sure you’ve seen around the hospital, has been accepted to Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine! She started her journey at GAH as an assistant and over time moved her way up to becoming a technician. Now she’s on her way to becoming a veterinarian ! We could not be more proud of her and wish her all the luck on her journey to becoming a DVM!

P.S
Please enjoy the many pictures of Allison with some of your beloved pets during her time with us.🐾🐈‍⬛🐕❤️

Introducing our August pet of the month!
Beatrix!

Miss Beatrix (Bea) for short, is a 1 year old domestic shorthair and has been visiting us at GAH since March of this year. She lives with her moms and cat sister Zebo. Some of her favorite things include playing with the laser pointer, showing off her skills as a master insect hunter and let’s not forget, playing fetch with her favorite toys. When she’s not doing any of those things you can catch her pouncing on her sister right as she’s about to fall asleep 😂
She is absolutely a love and the entire staff at GAH love when she visits.

🚨incoming PSA🚨

The Fourth of July is just around the corner and for some 4 legged family members that can be a very scary time with all the fireworks. So we ask that if your pet needs medication to help them through the holiday, please reach out to your vet sooner than later to pick up those medications. All of us here at GAH wish you and your 4 legged family members a safe and happy fourth! 🇺🇸🎆🎇

Let’s all give a warm welcome to our newest DVM!

Welcome to the team Dr. Schraer!

Dr. Kaela Schraer grew up in Glastonbury and completed her undergraduate degree at Villanova University in 2013. From there she went on to train for her career as a Veterinarian at the Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University. She graduated in 2017. She began her career just outside of Washington,DC where her husband was stationed at the Navy Yard. Introducing out June pet of the month, Neil!

Neil is a 16 year old lab who presented to us back in April for some tummy troubles. It was during that visit that the owner mentioned that he was moving and would be unable to take Neil with him. Lucky for Neil, his technician that day just happens to adore sweet, old grey faced dogs. So with very little convincing she agreed to adopt Neil. He is now living out his golden years at a house with a large fenced in yard and 4 dog siblings to keep him company. He loves spending his time hiking around a local dairy farm, going to the beach or just about anything involving a tennis ball.

Brachycephalic (short face) dogs generally have a hard time with the heat, as they have difficulty moving enough air while breathing to help them regulate their body temperature. Our patient Zeus, had a soft palate resection and a nares procedure today with Dr Cotthaus to help open his airways. Here are some before and after photos of his procedure today.
WARNING- post surgical picture containing blood.
