We are very excited to announce the addition of Dr. Kelley Crater to our SGAC family! Dr. Crater is very passionate about feline and canine dentistry, especially in preventing and treating severe dental disease in geriatric pets. She also wants to make every pet’s visit as pleasant as possible utilizing fear free medicine and handling. As we watch the weather forecast for tonight and tomorrow we have decided on a delayed opening on Monday, January 6th. Our goal is to allow for the roads to become safe for travel and that our clients, patients, and staff may arrive safely. We will continue to monitor the situation and may make further changes if needed. We deeply apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding.

If you currently have an appointment tomorrow before 10am, you will be contacted directly to be alerted that your appointment will need to be rescheduled.

If your pet is scheduled for a surgical procedure or a drop off appointment, you will be notified that your drop off timeframe has been adjusted to between 10 and 11am.

It’s that time of year again! has dropped off our Angel Tree! Last year we were able to help every pet on our tree! Stop by the clinic to help spread some Holiday Cheer this month by supporting our local pet shelters and rescues!

On the back of each pet ornament is a holiday wishlist for items such as treats, toys, and bedding. Select the dog or cat of your choosing and have some fun shopping for the items on their wishlist!! Bring your donated items back to us and we’ll get it delivered the appropriate rescue!

⚠️🚧 ROAD WORK AHEAD 🚧⚠️ The shopping center will be working on upgrading the stamped concrete at some of the entrances this week. The primary entrance into the clinic parking lot will be blocked. There will still be access to our parking lot but it may require entering off of Old Nuckols and crossing in front of the daycare.

And last, but certainly not least is Charlene! Charlene is one of our LVTs but is also our amazing practice manager! She has been with us at SGAC for three years. She obtained her BS in Biology with a pre-vet concentration at JMU then switched gears and went to tech school and got her AAS in Veterinary Technology from a blue Ridge Community College and became licensed in 2010. Prior to her degrees, Charlene worked in a variety of veterinary clinics, zoos, and also did dog training work since 2004. One of her favorite things to do as an LVT are advanced procedures such as placing urinary catheters in blocked cats (she loves a challenge!) outside of work you can often find her outdoors camping or paddle boarding, crafting, and spending time with her partner Jesse and stepson Ian. She has a dog Fletcher and 3 cats Asher, Willoughby, and Harper.

Today we have the pleasure of introducing Anne-Sophie, she is another one of our skilled LVTs and has been at Shady Grove for 2 years! She started working in vet med in 2005 as a receptionist, moved up to assistant, then went to school to become an LVT. She has two associates degrees and obtained her degree in Veterinary Technology from Northern Virginia Community College and became licensed in 2017. Prior to coming to Shady Grove she worked in general practice, emergency medicine, and specialty medicine (Neurology). She went from specialty medicine back to general practice because she enjoys being involved in a community and building relationships with clients and patients. She enjoys continuing to expand her skill set and her favorite things about being a vet tech are assisting in surgery and monitoring anesthesia. Please wish Anne-Sophie a happy Vet Tech week, we truly enjoy having her as part of the Shady Grove team!

Today we are excited to introduce Gabby to you! She is another one of our dedicated LVTs! Gabby attended college and received her degree in Veterinary Technology from S.U.N.Y. Canton and became a licensed tech in 2011. Some of her favorite things about being an LVT are helping with complex cases, nutrition, and all things phlebotomy related! She has veterinary experience in both General Practice and Emergency/Critical Care. Outside of work she enjoys listening to live music and outdoor adventures with her dog Gaiah and her tri-pawed cat Azula! Happy Vet Tech Week Gabby, you bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to our patient care team and we are lucky to have you here!
