Meet Brie!

She’s our little lady! Brie can be shy at first, but she’s incredibly bonded with people she gets to know. She is the perfect dog for anyone who is looking for a pet to snuggle on the couch, napping in the sun or enjoying a nice walk – she just wants to be by your side. Brie is spayed and her vaccinations are up to date, so she’s ready to find her new home. Call us if you think Brie could be the cheese to your macaroni!

If you're interested in meeting (or adopting!) Brie, please call our shelter Monday-Saturday, 10 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. at 804-727-8807!

Happy Caturday! 😺

How do we keep things running smoothly to care for so many animals? George, our resident giant fluffy cat, lives at our shelter full time and supervises everything. You can usually find him at the front desk helping our staff answer phone calls, scheduling appointments and welcoming new pets. Say hello to the boss if you stop by!

Meet Micky!

He’s a big guy! Micky loves being a lapdog and does not mind that he doesn’t quite fit. He’s looking for a family who will snuggle and play tug-of-war with him. We think he’d especially love a fenced-in backyard or a walking buddy. Micky’s vaccinations are current and he’s already neutered – he’s ready to meet his fur-ever family today!

If you're interested in meeting (or adopting!) Micky, please call our shelter Monday-Saturday, 10 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. at 804-727-8807!

Virginia Veterinary Centers will open its Short Pump location - its first facility in Henrico County - on Tuesday!

We often work with VVC and similar facilities when animals brought to our shelter need immediate medical care and our staff veterinarian is unavailable. Emergency facilities like these often play a vital role when officers respond to help animals that have been injured or when community members bring in lost pets that are critically ill.

Shelter staff, animal protection officers and Three Chopt District Supervisor Misty Roundtree celebrated the new center at its Feb. 15 ribbon cutting and toured the specialty care units. VVC's services include internal medicine, dentistry, oncology and surgery. Facilities like VVC help make Henrico a great place to live, woof and play! We look forward to continuing to work together!

What is "star" spelled backwards? Rats! 🐀 We have three female rats available for adoption, all around two years old. We don't know if they have any chef experience, but they are looking for new homes where they can play and cuddle!

We loved meeting everyone at Henrico Humane Society's 24th Annual Pet Expo!

Not only was the event an amazing opportunity for guests to have fun with their pets and learn about local businesses, it was also a huge driver for adoptions - 8 dogs were adopted at the event, with more adoptions pending and increased interest in fostering! ❤️

We're very proud to be a community partner with Henrico Humane Society; thank you for all you do to support the animals in our area!

Alumni update!

Jane (nicknamed Pretty Girl) has settled into her new home quickly! She was found in early December by herself and was brought to our shelter as a stray. Since being adopted, Jane has become super comfortable and loving around people. She's even visited her human's family members and made a new dog friend!

Her family says: "Her favorite things to do right now are looking out the window, chasing around various ball toys, staring at the shower drain, and just leaping around everywhere! She's slowly becoming more of a cuddler. She has bursts of energy around 5-6 a.m. every day but is mostly relatively chill. She also LOVES Churu's!"

We love seeing pets adopted from our shelter thriving in their new homes, so comment or message us anytime with updates!
