✨Nurse Highlight ✨

Meet Brynn!

Brynn is one of our wonderful & compassionate emergency nurses. She has been working in veterinary medicine for 5 years! Like most veterinary nurses, she started her career as an assistant, & quickly fell in love with the fast paced atmosphere emergency medicine provides.

Brynn’s favorite part about emergency medicine is that you never know what’s going to walk through the door. She also loves the teamwork aspect & how the nurses are always helping each other!

Brynn has one dog named Artie, & outside of work likes to spend her free time hiking & listening to country music! 🥾🎶

Brynn provides excellent patient care, & we are so grateful to have her as part of our emergency team💙🐾

Meet Wesley! 🐾

Westley is an 8-year-old Greyhound that is retired from his racing career. He was evaluated by our Neurology service for a sudden onset of being unable to walk and being mentally inappropriate.

After examining Westley, it was confirmed that he had a problem affecting his cerebellum. This is a portion of the brain that coordinates movements and helps maintain balance. Westley received a brain MRI, and this confirmed a right sided cerebellar ischemic infarct as the cause of Westley’s neurologic signs.

Greyhounds are a breed that is predisposed to having ischemic strokes. Luckily, ischemic strokes usually have a very good long-term prognosis in dogs with time, supportive care, and physical therapy. Westley stayed in the hospital for several days building his strength back and was always in good spirits. Just two weeks after surgery, Westley was able to walk around with minimal weakness!

Go Westley Go! 🧠💙

❄️Did someone say BRRRRR??❄️

January is the coldest month in the Northern hemisphere, and our pets are feeling it too☃️

Here are some tips for ensuring a cozy winter for your pups:

• opt for shorter walks during the warmest time of day, and spend some time doing indoor activities to keep their mobility strong!
•adding rugs for traction will reduce the chance of injuries from slipping
•wipe paws after walks to remove salt or snow packed in paws
• cold weather can aggravate joints & arthritis. Ensure your pet has proper outerwear on when going outside, and pain medication if needed to keep them comfortable during the colder months!

🎄How Harlee ate the naughty list🎄

‘Twas the week before Christmas & all through the North Pole ❄️🗻

Santa couldn’t find his naughty list, not even his lumps of coal! 🪨

He thought to himself “Maybe I’d better check the barn one more time, I’m losing my sight” 🔍

When he reached the barn it was empty, the reindeer were practicing their flight! 🦌

He searched for his coal, with no lantern lantern to light.

“Finally!” He said. The barn became bright💡

As color filled the barn, Santa jumped with fright.

Coal covered paw prints leading out into the night! 🐾

Santa followed the trail with no end in sight.

“You got me this time, but next year I’ll lock it up tight!” 🔐

Veterinary Nurses are a lot of things, but at the top of the list is professional snuggler! Hershey Kiss is enjoying her one on one time with nurse Ashlee. We truly can’t tell who’s enjoying the snuggles more!

Tis the season! 🎄❤️

Fun fact: Veterinary Nurses often relate to the grinch, because we too would prefer to live on a mountain with our dogs and only come down for food 👏

Please join the Pinnacle team in congratulating one of our amazing ICU nurses Jess on passing her Veterinary Technician Specialty Exam and earning her VTS in Emergency and Critical Care! 🐾🩺

Earning your VTS in ECC is not a small feat. In order to obtain your VTS credential, a nurse must demonstrate advanced skills and knowledge in emergency & critical care, and must pass a rigorous board exam. The process takes years of studying, logging cases, and determination. Jess has put her all into earning this credential and deserves all the congratulations. We are so proud of you!

🐾November is National Senior Pet Month🐾

Whether you’ve only had them a few years, or have had them their whole life, every grey hair is a testament to their love and loyalty for you. Senior pets teach us to slow down and enjoy the present moment, and show us that aging can be beautiful. The Pinnacle team put together a collage of some of our senior sidekicks, but we’d love to see yours! Comment a picture of your senior pet below 🐾🤍
