YES! In fact, ESPECIALLY in this economy!!
📈
While cost of living continues to rise, unfortunately, so do veterinary medical costs. At Pinnacle, we pride ourselves in providing the best possible care for your pet, the best doctors, the best nurses, the best client service staff, the best support staff, the best equipment...you get the idea. And as a privately owned veterinary hospital, we are not immune to the rising prices of what WE need to ensure we can continue to provide all of that for YOU.
📈
So, is pet insurance REALLY worth it? We think so, yes. Here is why...

📊 Many options to choose from:
When pet insurance started to gain popularity, there were not many options to choose from. Not only that, but the insurance itself was not always cost effective for people who owned breeds known to have certain health risks, or pre-existing conditions (which were often determined by people working for the insurance providers with little-to-no medical or veterinary knowledge or experience). Today, there are MANY pet insurance providers to choose from, and not only that, but many of them even boast that they will provide coverage for "pre-existing conditions", and breed-specific health conditions.

✏️Customizable plans:
Because there are so many options for pet insurance, this makes providers competitive, which in turn is a benefit to YOU, the consumer. Each company offers the same basic service- your pet gets sick or injured, you get reimbursed for a percentage of your vet bills. However, there are actually many providers offering unique benefits, such as basic annual wellness coverage. You can also often choose your monthly payment, your deductible per claim, and even the amount you are reimbursed.

❤️‍🩹 And the best reason of all, no longer worrying about the financial aspect during unexpected veterinary visits:
While most practices and hospitals cannot currently accept direct payments from the insurance providers, having pet insurance and knowing exactly what your provider covers can almost always allow you to consider the options your vet has given you for pet care with your pet's quality of life as the PRIMARY reason for how you choose to move forward. Instead of having to say "this costs too much", you can say "do whatever you need to make them feel better".
🤓
We cannot tell you which company will best suit your needs, but we have listed below some reliable and well-established providers to help you get started in finding the one that is right for you. There are still more GREAT companies not listed here, so while starting with the companies below is a good way to get an idea of costs or get some quotes to compare, another option is to ask your family vet for their advice. Some clinics and practices are affiliated with providers, but this is not necessarily a bad thing. Unless the practice is owned by a larger corporation, often they are affiliated because they CHOSE to be affiliated with this company based on their ethics and practices. Still, at the end of the day, PLEASE CHOOSE A COMPANY THAT WILL BEST SUIT YOUR FINANCIAL NEEDS! Afterall, that IS what pet insurance is about! Being able to provide your pet with the best medical care you can, no matter the cost.

Meet Bronson, who stayed with us here at Pinnacle for almost two full weeks while just about the entire staff worked tirelessly, around the clock, day in and day out, to fix his crazy electrolyte abnormalities while his parathyroid glands decided to peace out.✌️

Ok, ok, enough with the dramatics. But hey, after being so patient and sweet the ENTIRE time he stayed with us, he deserves all the drama🥳

We were waffling over whether we should post this photo of D'Argo on yesterday, or today, when we are *actually* enjoying waffles with bottomless syrup. So leggo of that week day stress, warm up that waffle press, and butter up your sweetie to make you some Saturday morning breakfast in bed.

*disclaimer: we know your pet's begging faces are waffle-ly cute, but in defense of their GI tract and pancreas, please only share a small piece of unbuttered, unsyruped waffle with them...this message was approved by Dr. Prober and our ER department*

We love getting messages like these! Thank you SO MUCH to Roo's family for sharing this incredible story with us, and of course, this beautiful photo of Roo living her best life at home💕
☀️☀️☀️

"It’s officially been 1 year since we brought our Roo bear home from you guys after staying for a week with liver failure. She got her check up last week at the vet and all of her blood work is completely normal! The vet says she’s a little on the chunky side now, but we’re not too worried since she had lost 30 pounds while she was sick. We are forever grateful for all that your team did for us and Roo. We can’t believe how far she has come and can’t thank you enough for giving us a lifetime with our sweet girl 💕"

☎️It's National Call Your Doctor Day!☎️ And while we want everyone to take care of themselves, this is a great reminder to keep up with your pet's vet appointments too.

🧑‍⚕️Keeping up with annual wellness visits, vaccines, and routine blood work is THE NUMBER ONE WAY to keep your pets out of the emergency room! It's not called "preventative medicine" for nothing...

🏥Maintaining a relationship with your primary veterinarian could save your pet's life. By keeping records and logs over your pet's life, your vet can notice trends that may help in catching illnesses early. Pets are really good at not always telling us right away when something is going on, and sometimes something that may seem so simple (like an ear infection) can turn into an emergency pretty quickly if not treated early!

💉 Staying up-to-date on vaccines for your pets is great for keeping your pets from contracting deadly illnesses. It's also helpful if your pet DOES become sick, because we can often rule out many diseases right off the bat for pets who are vaccinated.

🩸Routine blood work with your vet will help them catch any abnormalities, often before your pet is even showing signs of something not being quite right. Things like kidney disease, declining liver function, and diabetes are all examples of diseases that can be caught early and often slow down progression (and in some cases, even reversed) under the care of your veterinarian.

💊Developing a relationship with your veterinarian will help them get to know you and your pets, and can help them tailor your pets care to your individual lifestyle. This can also help them know what medications will and won't work for your pets when needed, what supplements might benefit your pet, and individual ways you can improve (and extend!) your pet's quality of life.

🦠Lastly - and this is a big one for avoiding ER trips! - your vet is your source for your flea, tick, and heartworm prevention!

Spring is a big time for flower bouquets, between Mother's Day, Easter, Proms, Graduations, Father's Day, and everything in between! Unfortunately, many flowers and plants can be highly toxic to our pets. Lilies are the most commonly known(and most commonly used in bouquets), but there are many more.
💐
If you're not sure if something in your bouquet, garden, or vase is toxic, the best thing to do is make sure your pets DO NOT have access to the plants, or remove them from your house altogether (sorry!). And don't forget, cats can be stealthy! Jumping up to places where they shouldn't and sneaking into rooms you thought you sealed shut...*cats*, am I right!?
💐
Special shout-out to for this awesome sign accompanying their flower display! The veterinary community thanks you in our efforts to keep pet toxicities to a minimum. To learn more, visit https://www.aspca.org/pet-care/animal-poison-control/toxic-and-non-toxic-plants

🆘FOUND DOG🆘 PLEASE SHARE THIS POST!

This sweet dog was found walking on the side of the road near Smith Road and Beaver Dam Road. They were brought in to us on Saturday night by a good samaritan, but unfortunately we could not find a microchip with our scAnner. If you know this dog, or think you may know this dog, please call and we will verify some identifying features. They will be staying here at PVS for one more night (3/6-3/7) until we can find a rescue for them to transition to for further care.
